"Lacking any sense of empathy or willingness to help! I made a reservation two days ahead of time, for my son who was interviewing at a nearby educational institution. Calling the day before I learned that the minimum check-in age is 21 years old, even thought they have a discounted rate with the educational institutions. I used the link provided by the school, and through making the reservation, never encountered an age limit. In fact, when delineating between adult and children, the line is 18 years old. I was told first by the desk clerk, and then a manager, that he would not be able to check in. I ended up speaking with the General Manager (Dan Trejbal), who told me that there was no way around the policy and that he would be happy to cancel the reservation for me. Here I am stuck with a reservation for my son in another town and no place to stay. He told me that the age limit was hard and on the website. I suppose he tried to be gracious in saying that he would cancel the reservation without penalty as long as it was done by that night - so a day of leniency. But no effort to actually try and help me. The impetus seemed to make the room available for future reservations ASAP. Given that this is the hospitality industry we are talking about, let me offer an alternative Dan could have chosen - he could have said something to the effect of "I am sorry! I do not see a way around this policy, but am happy to at least not burden you with the additional stress of a penalty. There are a couple of other hotels that do have an 18 year-old minimum age limit. They are X and Y, and let me get you their numbers so that you can call them. In the meantime, I will hold onto this reservation, in case there is someone who is 21 years old who could take over his reservation. Why don't I give you an hour or so to check on your options and I can call you back. If you are able to secure things, please call us back and ask for me by name." I would urge that next time Dan take a path of empathy and willingness to help. I am sure that his staff also would find it instructive."

"Great location.... the area has lots of restaurants, museums and historical buildings all in close proximity. All the staff at the Courtyard with whom I interacted were professional, courteous, personable, helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortably furnished with adequate lighting...I, however, found the closet a bit small, space was a bit challenging for a somewhat bulky winter coat. An added plus is their Shuttle service that starts at 6 am each morning, servicing the surrounding Medical facilities. Will definitely stay at this facility again."

"Very nice, clean, comfortable hotel. Our room was super spacious and quiet. The location is nice, very close to everything we wanted to do in this part of Cleveland. If the weather had been better, we could have walked!"

"Room was okay. Usual wear and tear. Not even a bottle of water so that was disappointing, especially as a titanium elite member. Shower was spacious but had no water pressure. Bed was comfortable. Valet service took forever to get my car. Requested to pick it up at 5:30 am, went down at 5:45 and they hadn't even walked out to get it yet. Took another 10 minutes so I ended up being late for work. Location is nice but I won't return to this specific hotel."

"Despite the four star review, I’ll never stay here again. I chose the hotel because of the convenience of visiting my daughter at CWRU. The location, rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and everything having to do with the hotel itself was as good as a hotel can be in this class of accommodation. HOWEVER, because of limited space, valet parking is mandatory and an extra $23/day plus tips. It was not the cost that bothered me. It was the fact that, at times, it took 30 minutes to get my car. The text you’re supposed to send from your room when you want your car doesn’t always work. Other times when you drop off your car you’re left waiting to see if anyone will ever come get it. It was an incredible inconvenience. If you have to come and go several times during the day you’ll want to bang your head against the wall. One time traffic was backed up into the street with nobody in sight to park the cars. Another time, I was made late for a dinner reservation, and took my car from the valet in the street because he couldn’t even pull into the hotel because of all the cars which were left out in front! If you don’t need your car, or only have to go out once during the day - it’s a terrific hotel. It’s worth noting that the valet is not affiliated with the hotel."
