Resistance Lab Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

"I have been training BJJ here for about 7 months now. I really enjoy the laid back atmosphere the head instructor Chris has compared to more “traditional” style schools out there. Don’t misconstrue laid back to mean the training isn’t serious, it certainly is. What I mean is you are treated like family here and you won’t feel out of turn asking Chris any questions about techniques. He keeps it light and humorous which keeps training fun. He received his black belt in BJJ from Pedro Sauer and he also rolls with students of all skill levels so you know what he teaches is legitimate. The gym isn’t large but this is part of what makes this place so special. At larger gyms you are very unlikely to have an opportunity to roll with your lead instructor and get one-on-one feedback about your progress. Chris’ instruction follows the true essence of what makes jiu jitsu appealing- control leading to submission. I really can’t speak highly enough about Chris and all of my training partners at Resistance Lab. I had no previous training before starting here and I feel like I have learned so much in my short time training (and so much more to learn). If you are curious about BJJ or any of the other martial arts offered at Resistance Lab I encourage you to take advantage of your free first class, you will not regret it."

"Very bizarre experience at Resistance Lab with the owner Chris Jits. Started off with good training but then Chris was late to every lesson and also would often either cancel last minute or be a no show with no response. Based on his inexplicable actions it appears that Chris could care less about making money or trying to operate and grow a successful business. Never even bothered to reach out after I stopped training at the school due to all of his cancellations and no shows (I was doing private lessons twice a week paying cash). You can't learn and improve when the owner does not take things seriously so my advice is to find a place that is dedicated and committed to its students. An absolute shame since I thought I had finally found competent instruction only to be disappointed once again. UPDATE TO POST: I have updated my review to 3 stars since my initial rating of 1 star was too harsh and based on my disappointment on how things turned out. Chris Jits is an excellent instructor with a lot of knowledge but he is not a good business person and also not good at a communicating and responding."

"Resistance Lab is an amazing place to train Brazilian Ju Jitsu! As a woman I feel strongly that BJJ is a crucial part of self defense & I want to go where that training is best. My daughter adores the kids bjj classes & I'm impressed with the coaches translating their passion for bjj to children and making sure they have fun while learning important self defense and practicing stranger danger tactics. It's wonderful to be somewhere you can train as a family with Brazilian Ju Jitsu, Muy Thai, Escrima, self dense and cardio & fitness for the adults and a well rounded BJJ program for the kids!"

"Resistance Lab BJJ is absolutely amazing! The BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) classes are top notch. Chris is a fantastic Head Instructor and does a great job in BJJ, Muay Thai, Combat Escrima & Overall Self Defense! The gym is always super clean, super fun and super knowledgeable! It's a great place to go to train... whether it is in a form of Martial Arts, Self Defense or to get some Cardio and Fitness in! I love the BJJ journey I am on at Resistance Lab and don't plan on going anywhere!"
