About the Business
Christian Children's Home of Ohio, located at 2685 Armstrong Road in Wooster, Ohio, is a health institution that provides a safe and stable environment for abused, neglected, and traumatized children to find healing, hope, and unconditional love. With over 50 years of ministry experience, CCHO offers residential treatment services for children ages 6-18, focusing on meeting their mental, emotional, physical, recreational, and spiritual needs.
In 2018, over 16,000 boys and girls entered foster care in Ohio, many due to physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and alcohol/drug abuse by their guardians. CCHO aims to help these children process their trauma and develop coping and life skills through various therapeutic approaches, including equine-assisted therapy, art therapy, group therapy, and trauma therapy.
By making a donation of $60, you can provide a night of safety for a child in need, while a gift of $420 can give a child a full week of loving care to aid in their healing journey. Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting the mission of CCHO, and individuals can also consider making a monthly recurring gift to become a Campus Champion and receive updates on the impact of their donation.
Through the support of generous donors and volunteers, CCHO continues to make a positive impact on the lives of children who have experienced abuse and neglect. The institution's ultimate goal is to help these children realize their worth in Christ and empower them to overcome their past traumas and build a brighter future. Contact CCHO at 330-345-7949 to learn more about volunteer opportunities, events, and job positions.

"I came here as a child and now into my adult life I’m still triggered and have constant nightmares about this place! The heavy push of religion and restraining of Children was insane. Don’t know how long this review will be up for they probably delete all negative comments do not let your kids be placed here!!!!"
"I used to live there many years ago. I am now 47 years old. I was very young when I was sent there. Maybe 12 or 13. I was a runaway and always in trouble. I remember John and Sandy O'Brien. Also Pat and his wife Carol. Those 2 couples were my houseparents whom I loved dearly. Although at the time i may not have showed how much i loved them. Also the Porters...the family that ran the home. Their son Matt was a good friend of mine. Anyone know of these people? Please let me know just so i can say hello and give them a thankyou!"
"Love this place! The integrity, love and professionalism displayed to clients and employees is top notch! This organization practices what they preach!"
"I travel just shy of 1 hour to receive counseling here and the quality of care is yet to be met. CCHO and Encompass treat children and adults and are capable of treating trauma related issues. To be honest, I can justify driving 2 hours to get here."
"My experience with this organization could not have been worse. I’ve had to deal with the counseling service for over two years, but they have done nothing to include me in the “treatment” of my minor children. I have been excluded and ignored, and as a result have lost two years of my children’s lives. The inefficiency of this organization has caused the legal process in my custody case to be dragged out long past the limit set by the State of Ohio for such cases, and even with a court order stating I am to be included in the process, the counselor still chooses to ignore me. I have been directed to higher ups in the organization to express my concerns, and have reached out to everyone I have been directed to speak with. I have found that they are not interested in listening to what you have to say or what has been done incorrectly, they simply justify their actions and ignore the issues. This agency is ruining my relationship with my children, and supporting parental alienation. Worst counseling practice I’ve ever dealt with."
