"Came in end of May 2023 for a neck injury that had been misdiagnosed in 2020 as inflammation of muscles between the shoulder and spine. Dr asked "what do you mean this injury is from 2020?" by the doctor - in a subtly sarcastic tone - "Why are you here?" ... even though I already told him, i never had it treated properly because my past doctor ran me around - xrays only on my shoulder, not my neck - then PT for a nonexistent injuiry he couldnt even prove, for months.. the injury never got better only stopped from getting worse; as I continued the PT that aultman outpatient facility taught me into 2022- I had new xrays at aultman now jackson, because the pain re emerged. They only xrayed my shoulder once again, not neck - even though all symptoms point to neck injury. Forward to may 2023, at the time re-injured it -waking up unable to breath well and in bouts of amnesia because the injury was somehow constricting blood flow / oxygen to my brain. You know what he said? "Call your doctor back and schedule imaging with him" I said I do not want to see him anymore Dr reply "Well you arent going to get the imaging you want at any ER with a story like this" I never asked for medication, only imaging, because the new physician's office I scheduled to help me instructed me to go to any ER -to say I have reinjured my neck injury -to get imaging ASAP to bring with me to the new patient appointment which was in 6 weeks He replied "I can't believe a doctor's office would tell you that: which office said it?" Summa Health Care in summit county, I replied He asks “why are you coming here for imaging, and not your family doctor? Sorry to ask again, I just dont understand” I replied: Well; when I looked up where to go for suspected neck injury and neuirological symptoms, right on your website for Aultman Massillon ER facility; it says on a great big chart: To go to an ER for this injury; not to wait for your Family Doc or even a day clinic/stat care – but to go NOW to a 24/7 ER facility. This finally made him pretend to listen *a tiny bit*. He still didn’t care that my family office I am newly scheduled with is INSTRUCTING ME TO BE HERE. He admitted he could XRay my neck, but there is no MRI machine at this ER facility, and he refused to XRay I did record this entire exchange witth a voice recorder. The dr attending me was Brian Adams I was treated with measured /cold distance & sarcasm - perhaps he thought i was seeking opiates. He prescribed me muscle relaxers and said to take tylenol - I never got rx filled- again, i said nothing about medication. its in my profile at aultman I do not want medication unless it makes a LOT of sense. I would have taken muscle relaxers IF it involved a doctor re-placing my neck from a dislocation. Otherwise, pain meds are useless to me because I believe in fixing the underlying cause, not treating symptoms. He may have done nothing wrong - it stands that he turned away my medical emergency. Probably because I was so calm for the amount of discomfort I was in. But Ive learned to live with the injury. He could have sent me elsewhere that night for MRI if he thought that was better than an XRAY- or @ minimum Xrayed. I was only there because my injury was bearable until it wasnt after years of haphazard healing , preceeding re-injury: To which he expressed his outright disinterest. He told me: "it does seem like a nerve is being little pinched somewhere, but i dont think it's anything major". So waking up with constricted breathing and amnesia 3 days is not major neurological symptoms? I am infuriated by this doctor’s behavior and that this facility has over 50% 1 star reviews. Who is in charge of this facility, Why are you allowing the continued lack of empathy and treatment to persist? Do you not know that serving the public health is a responsibility – NOT mere privilege that us patients need to earn!? If I worked with doctors other reviewers are describing here I'd take my skills elsewhere they can actually be used for the good of humanity"
"Came in dehydrated from a run of morning sickness that had lasted nearly 24 hours, my nurses were amazing as was the doctor on shift, after 2 ltr of fluid i was good to go back home. Will definitely come back here in the future."
"I will not be returning here. Came I hopes of better treatment than going to the main hospital in canton and it’s just as bad. Came in with pneumonia symptoms and all they did was swab for flu and a “chest xray”. They prescribed tessalon pearls and an inhaler then sent me off. They never did any blood work, no additional swabs taken, nothing. Considering the fact the following two days my fiance and 1 year old daughter both were also rushed to a hospital and told RSV and borderline pneumonia this clinic needs investigated for medical malpractice"
"I never write reviews but my experience was so poor that I think about it often and I feel like patient experience needs to be heard more. I went into the ER for severe ear pain, saw Dr. Matthew Roehrs and was told to take Tylenol and see a specialist if it continues. Two days later my pain has severely increased and my face was swollen to where my ear was shut. I went back because I figured they knew my history and felt it would be the best place to help. I was in so much pain. I have birthed two children and this pain was so much greater than that. I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t even bare to stay in one place because it was all consuming. After waiting some time (to be expected in an ER-not upset about that) the same doctor, Dr. Roehrs came in. He didn’t even greet me and started by asking me if I called the specialist. I told him not yet because it had only been two days and I was hoping it would clear up (not to mention the specialist he recommended was out of my network). He then proceeded to say “well I don’t know how you expect to get better if you don’t follow my instructions”. I was so taken aback by his general attitude towards me. I’m in pain, yet instead of having any form of empathy he came at me hard and stern. He then left the room. I didn’t know when/if he was returning so I “followed instructions” and made a call the specialist while I was waited. They couldn’t get me in for 3 weeks. After about 20 mins he came back in and told me there was nothing he could do for me and that I needed to see a specialist. I told him I called and they were booked out 3 weeks and out of network but I would find another. In the meantime I’m in a great deal of pain. He asked me about my over the counter pain management and I explained that it wasn’t touching the pain. I had to fight to get him to believe me that I was in pain. It was humiliating and I did not feel heard or respected. I’m not an addict and I felt like I was being treated as one. My face was hugely swollen for God’s sake. I realize there is an opiate issue but that does not excuse this behavior. I felt gaslighted. It takes a lot for people to get to the doctor when they are sick or in pain and to be treated like an annoyance or not believed was the most humiliating experience. I’m a 33 real old mother with a graduate education with a hugely swollen face. My ear is swollen shut. Clearly not a drug seeker. I can’t tell you how embarrassing it was to cry in pain and beg for him to please do the right thing and treat my pain. It shouldn’t be this hard. I will never step foot in this ER again even though I live less than a mile away. I will never bring my children there. It really made me lose my trust in healthcare and I hope he sees this and learns. Do better. Treat people like you’d want to be treated."
"Wouldn’t go here unless you have a day to kill. Sat in the waiting area over 3 hours and watched several people who came in well after us get seen and leave while we’re still waiting. The staff is less than stellar and make you feel you are an inconvenience to them. The 2 star rating they have is very generous but they do a great job upholding it!!"
