"I made the mistake to go to Matthew’s because of the marketing I saw on the highway, believing of their unique creativity. Although they can definitely do the job and Val is amazing to work with, they are overpriced. That is not even the issue though. I made a pendant made of in mother pearl with a gold center piece made of a cat sitting on a key. I bought the cat in gold for 600$. I went to a store and sat the cat with the key for 1400$ (in a usual overpriced store) the key was heavier than the one they made while the cat was the same. So the key value is 800$ also made to fit the cat. They charged me 7000$ to put them on a mother pearl piece worth $ 50 and putting some gold around. He gave me a price then he went over $2500 the estimate i agreed initially to finish the pendant. And with the excuse they said that I needed more gold but the gold added is insignificant respect what they said cost $4500. When I told them I wanted to hang it on an existing heavier chain the owner wanted to charge me more for the loop . It is called pendant not souvenir or paper weight so of course it requires a loop to hang it on my neck. Find a different jewelry store if you want to make your own design."
