I experienced a clear violation of the Motor Vehicle Repair Act when the dealer performed unauthorized services and charged me an exorbitant amount without my consent. Initially, had my Kubota machine delivered to Florida Coast Equipment for a specific service, authorizing a reasonable charge of $165. However, my frustration mounted when I received an invoice for nearly $400, detailing additional charges that I had not requested or approved. The situation took a turn for the worse when I confronted the dealer about the unauthorized charges. Shockingly, they refused to release my machine, insisting that I pay the inflated amount before regaining possession of my equipment. This protracted dispute lasted several days, causing significant disruptions to my business operations and resulting in financial losses due to the unavailability of essential equipment. Despite my repeated explanations that I had not provided consent for the additional charges, Florida Coast Equipment remained steadfast in their attempt to force me to pay an increased amount. It was only after resorting to the threat of filing a bond at the Circuit Court to compel them to release the machine at the initially authorized amount that the dealer reluctantly agreed to allow me to pick up my equipment. This entire ordeal has left me profoundly dissatisfied with Florida Coast Equipment’s business practices. Their blatant disregard for the Motor Vehicle Repair Act, coupled with their refusal to acknowledge their wrongdoing, has not only caused financial strain but has also shattered my trust in their integrity as a service provider. I strongly caution potential customers to exercise vigilance when dealing with Florida Coast Equipment and to ensure that any services performed are explicitly authorized to avoid falling victim to such unethical business practices. By sharing my unfortunate experience, I hope others can avoid the frustration and financial loss that I endured during this regrettable encounter."
