"I paid 598 for a 2 bedroom resort stay. I understand it's for a timeshare. Reading these reviews got me scared. I went on line to schedule my dates for Oct 9 the Oct 14 2021. However when the lady called me back she Informed me I would get information in the mail. I have yet to receive this information and that was about a month ago. I don't know where we are staying, what time this presentation is or anything else for that matter. I like organization especially when you get my money up front the least you can do is be as punctual and factual as possible. I could only assume I was talking to Barbara but I could be wrong. As I have been calling all day today and it keeps going to Barbara's vmail. If you guys read this please respond and let me know when I will get this information and send to me ASAP. So I don't leave another negative review"
"About a year ago I signed my wife (at the time fiancé) and I up for a Florida vacation at a Comic Con. A week or two later I was contacted by RTA telling me we had been selected for a 6 night, 5 day stay at Silver Lake Resort in Kissimmee, FL. After explaining all about the trip and resort, I asked the big question... "Is this free?", that's when I found out it is just an "extremely discounted" vacation package for $498. I was a little disappointed, but after looking up what a trip like that would normally cost, we decided it sounded like a fun way to have a cheap "mini-moon" after our wedding in October. After the phone call I took to Google to search "Resort Tours & Accommodations." That is when I was met with a barrage of horrible reviews exclaiming that the package as well as the company was a complete scam. This was when I first understood they would try to sell me a timeshare... I was mortified. My first thought was I need to try to get my money refunded immediately. Many negative reviews said they attempted the same but got ahold of a woman named Barbara who refused to give them a refund and insulted and belittled them on the phone. Through my anxiety I read every review on RTA I could possibly find on the internet. Unfortunately, the negative seemed to far outweigh the positive. But I noticed a couple trends... All the negative reviews were from people who never actually took the trip. They all either said they attempted to get a refund and were met with resistance and insulted by RTA, or they hadn't even purchased the package and came just to say they believed the company was a scam for having the audacity to try to charge them $498 for a vacation they believed was free. Another thing I noticed is that RTA responded to every negative review with their side of the story. And all positive reviews said they took the trip and it was great. I decided I would just try to call for a refund. Fully expecting to be berated by a woman named Barbara I had to really psych myself up. But when I called, I spoke with a man named Gerald. He was as calm and nice and immediately offered me a refund without question. But also gave me some incentive to keep the package. I discussed with my wife and we decided for the price, the trip was worth the risk. Come closer to the time we planned to take the trip, I called RTA, booked our dates at Silver Lake without issue. Every time I called them I never had a problem getting someone on the phone and they were always kind and helpful. As long as you READ the rules and meet a few simple requirements, you will have no issues booking your trip. The RTA package says you're required to sit through a 90 minute sales presentation (timeshare pitch). I had read timeshare pitch horror stories online so I was worried it would be a nightmare experience. We arrived at Silver Lake on a Sunday and our pitch was for 8:15am Monday morning. Come time for the pitch, we listened, decided against purchasing and were out after 110 minutes. We got $200 in entertainment credit for attending, and were able purchase Disney World tickets. As for Silver Lake Resort, it's beautiful with a lot of great amenities and entertainment. We loved our condo, the huge pool, game room and tiki bar. Plus, it's literally 5 minutes from Disney and about an hour from the beach. The staff is also very friendly. I know this review is incredibly long, but there is a lot of unfair negativity on the internet about RTA and their intent. They want to help the resort sell timeshares but also give you a cheap vacation. You are not required to buy one. I cannot guarantee everyone will feel the way I do, but this is simply what my wife and I's experience was, and it was great. Thank you for the great memories RTA."
"I submitted my vacation package dates to the recommended website. A week later a representative attempted to contact me to inform me that we needed to adjust the dates but never mentioned a deadline for needing to do so nor did Barbara mention that my package would expire. With this, once I was finally able to get in touch with Barbara she informed me my package had expired. This was never mentioned in any of the calls nor did I have any issues originally submitting my dates only for them to decide they expired and I was no longer able to use them. They offered to readjust for an additional $90 charge, so clearly this company is a hoax. Do not think you "won" a package as this company is illegitimate. I asked to speak with a manager. When transferred to this individual he then transferred me back to a representative without any solution or apology."
"While attending the 2018 Pride festival we visited the booth of Resort Tours and Accomodations and filled out their card to win a Disney vacation. The card asked for our yearly gross income And what kind of credit card we had which I thought was strange but since it was at Pride we assumed it was safe. On Tuesday I received a call from a number I didn’t recognize so I didn’t answer and they didn’t leave a voicemail. On Thursday evening around 8pm I received another call so we answered. They went on about how we were chosen for a discounted vacation out the 5% and spewed all these numbers that sounded great so we agreed that we would like the package. Well after spilling more information he said that we would have to give him a credit or debit card over the phone. We questioned the legitimacy to which he said we would be able to get our money back with a 30 day gurantee. We still didn’t feel comfortable doing that and asked if we would pay the amount owed at a later date. The man then became very rude and said that we had to pay it right then or they would gladly give our vacation away to someone else. Not wanting to lose our spot we agreed and he transferred us to another woman who took our card information for a second time. Long story short we read reviews on the company which were terrible and called trying to get a refund to which we had to leave a voicemail stating they would call back promptly yet we haven’t received a call. The supposed deal they offered us was no cheaper than if we just booked the vacation ourselves. We tried contacting them through email and phone to cancel the same day to which we received no response until the following Monday. They left me a voicemail while I was at work. When we contacted the customer service line I tried to tell the man that I needed a full refund because I feel I had been scammed he became very sarcastic saying things like, “Oh really?” And “You really expect me to believe that?” Feeling very disrespected I contacted the direct line of the person who left me voicemail. Her name was Barbara. She claimed that I had not called back in time and that the package was already mailed so there was nothing I could do even though in the voicemail she left me she said she knew I was trying to cancel the package. When I tried to explain that the email said I could call this number to cancel she became irate even yelling claiming that had we not called on the weekend it could have been cancelled (which is a lie because we called Thursday and Friday before 5pm), but now we would have to wait for the package to be sent and then send it back in order to receive a refund. In short these are the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with and I would recommend anyone to steer clear of anything that had to do with this company!!"
"Horrible!! Big scam! Me and my fiance did a raffle back in June. They got ahold of Me and said we won a free trip but only thing we have enough to pay is 498 plus hotel taxes per night. I didn't have 498 right then so they said I can pay 125 now and 373 when I arrive in Florida. They said I had to pay for travels etc. After giving my info they charged me right away, I then checked BBB seen they were not secure with BBB and all the bad reviews. Immediately I called my bank to stop payment. A week later my account showed they took 125 dollars. Now I did a dispute with my bank."
