"We have lived here nearly two years. We like the location and have had no issues with neighbors. There have been maintenance issues during our current/second year that involved over 6 weeks to get an initial response before our stove was fixed, and an ongoing issue with our refrigerator which took over two weeks to get an initial response. More recent maintenance issues have seen quicker response times, and this improvement is appreciated and influenced our decision to remain another year, even though it would be helpful to have onsite staff. However, our most recent renewal process (for a 3rd year of residence) was more like a blindside. The mandatory additional fees in technology rent and parcel mailbox were unexpected and didn’t appear until well into signing the renewal which was full of legal jargon and forced you to agree to these fees to execute the lease. What the technology covered or how it would work was unclear and we were referred to talk to the company (GiGstreem) when our new lease would begin. There was no communication that these mandatory fees were coming and by the time we needed to sign our renewal to optimize pricing, we felt stuck. Because of the way we bundle our internet, wifi, and cable, we will wind up spending a lot more for duplicating service we already have. We were told we don't have to sign up for the GiGstreem, but we still must pay for it as well as the parcel fee, no exceptions. Additionally, the parking fee was increased to $25/mo and $60/mo for a reserved spot, for no apparent reason other than it simply could be. So, off the bat, we are paying for internet through another provider, plus an additional (Preserve property) mandatory $88/month and if we'd gone with the 12-month renewal, it would have been over $100/mo. The lack of or lateness in communication is a pattern with this community’s management and particularly when it comes to added fees for services is regrettable and a poor way to treat residents. If we’d known ahead of time about the changes, we would have felt more informed about deciding to leave or stay. With the constant lack of consideration in communication, we cannot recommend this community for future residents."
"My experience at Preserve at Gateway has been disappointing, especially as a medical marijuana patient in the state of Florida. Despite hoping for understanding and cooperation in accessing my necessary medication, this property showed no willingness to negotiate. As a responsible patient, I only consumed my medication on the patio, not inside the apartment. However, to my surprise, I received a 7-day warning to cease my usage or face eviction. It's disheartening to encounter such a rigid stance on a matter that involves legal and legitimate medical needs. As patients, we expect understanding and empathy from our living community, but that was clearly lacking here. I hope that Preserve at Gateway can reconsider their approach to accommodate medical marijuana patients who adhere to the guidelines and show respect for the community's rules. It's crucial for properties to be compassionate and supportive of the diverse medical requirements of their residents. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this property to fellow medical marijuana patients looking for an inclusive and understanding community."
"This property is extremely terrible. THEY DESERVE NEGATIVE STARS. Their leasing office and management do not strive for excellent customer service. They do not care about the residents whatsoever. The original mgmt who I initially signed with under the previous name "Elan at gateway" they seemed like good upstanding and helpful people. These new individuals after the parent company changed are the worst thing that could've happened to this complex. The leasing office and mgmt do not care about addressing concerns in a timely manner. It takes 2-3 months for maintenance issues to be resolved. They overcharge for things that do not make sense. The 'wecareUDR" reps are robots who truly do not care and do not resolve any issues. My car was towed as a PAYING RESIDENT (who paid for their parking spot) because I accidentally parked in the wrong reserved spot after working a 24 hour shift and was sleep deprived. The property did not care to even try to help me out whatsoever. No other apt complex would've left me hanging. My rent would've been adjusted given how compliant and good of a resident I have been. I have never experienced such insolence in my life. I am so happy I finally ended my lease with them. I would never recommend this place, even to my worst enemy. Good riddance! The entire leasing staff and mgmt need to be fired and replaced with hard working people who actually care."
