"We love Orange Lake Resort! ❤️ We spend our yearly family vacation here. There is so much to do for all ages."
"Full discloser: I'm a writer traveling around to access and write about handicapped accessibility around the U.S. No one at the resort knew I was a writer coming to observe. From the moment we hit the check-in desk, to every single interaction we had with staff members, we felt welcome and surrounded by cheerful individuals who appear to truly enjoy their jobs. Emily Kresser took care of everything at check-in, is educated and well informed, friendly, genuinely kind and helpful. She got us squared away quickly and off to our villa. The handicapped accessible rooms pay a lot of attention to details, with appliances at ADA recommended height, outlets, and counters with space underneath for a wheelchair to roll right in. The bathroom shower had sturdy grab bars and a comfortable mesh fold out seat. The tub was suited for transfers and the pocket doors in the bathrooms took up less space to open and close and made more room for wheelchairs or other mobility aids to pass through. The resort itself is STUNNING. Seven well kept, immaculately clean, warm pools. Our favorite spot was River Island, with Anchors poolside restaurant and Currents Café (best darn lavender lemonade EVER) and other eateries and dining options. The main pool behind the check-in building was terrific too and offered Breezes, with great food and hospitable friendly service. Pools are zero entry and lifts were present at each pool. The bathrooms all throughout the resort are large and easily accessible, as are patio tables and the beach area. The Floridian colors and décor, and the palm trees give off a tropical, relaxing vibe. The music, 80s and 90s, over the PA system at River Island was enjoyable and fun. The landscaping and golf course are impeccably maintained and manicured. The singer in the evenings at Paisan Pizzeria was great and belted out a mean Billy Joel. Chris, in the Island Traders gift shop and his female colleague (unfortunately didn't get her name) were wonderful, pleasant, and enjoyable talkative. They certainly know how to welcome guests while we're shopping. There's never a reason to leave this resort throughout your stay. There are convenience grocers on premises with milk, juices, all the grocery staples. Bathing suits, sunscreen, everything you need to enjoy a Florida resort vacation. For larger families and grocery hauls there's a Publix near the main entrance (get them to make you a custom made sub sandwich, you won't be sorry, they are AMAZING) with just about everything you can imagine, for purchase to make your vacation complete and stock your villa cabinets. Across the street you'll find a Target, Dollar Tree, Marshalls, etc, if you have a yen for shopping. For family fun and handicapped accessibility, Orange Lake Resort gets a 5 + star rating from us! Go there, enjoy!"
"We had 3 units reserved for a week's stay. Checked in on Saturday @ 12:15am got to rooms & settled in. Our son's unit had all the fire alarms go off for no reason. Good thing no one has flashing light induced seizures. The sound was deafening! They did get it fixed and replaced the problem alarm. Our daughters unit, the air conditioning went out, may have been to a storm that we had. They fixed it within a half hour. All in all we love Orange Lake and will continue to stay there on future vacations."
"My family stayed here for five nights in February. The grounds are beautiful! The rooms are large but outdated. It was nice to have a washer/dryer. The beds are terribly uncomfortable, though: hard like wood. My family would not stay here again simply due to the fact that sleeping was so uncomfortable due to the mattresses."
