Reviews
"Had a great time at this campground. I was a little skeptical based on the reviews previously, but we didn’t seem to have any issues with the squatters (if they were still there). We loved our chosen spot and luckily didn’t have anybody next to us, so it was perfect. We forgot to check out the lake so we’ll have to do that next time. We will definitely be back!"
"Zero wildlife in this Pinetree paradise. Large oaks are rotting and dropping small truck size branches. Mosquitos attack from every angle and don't care about fire pits, repellant or shooing, so disrespectful. It was relaxing because it is nature. Reservation and camping fees were $20."
"Should be a great place but 2 of the 3 times we have been there it has been ruined by a family that was living there. First time they ran a generator all night. Today we showed up to some people that had a full camp setup and we’re clearly there to stay. They had loud dogs and were blasting inappropriate music. We didn’t feel comfortable there so had to leave. We called the main number and the lady we spoke to seemed to have her head in the sand in the fact that people live at this site. You can see reviews going back years saying the same thing. This is our second time encountering them over last two years. Otherwise would be an awesome secluded camp site if you take away the squatters."
"Great place if you don't mind off grid. Only 10 sites here with no electric. No bathroom, but they do have a portable potty and Non potable water pump. Bring water. Beautiful Old Oak Trees!"
"The campground could be 5 stars but depending on which site you reserve and who else is camping during your stay you could have a 1 star experience. The state forest I usually stay at is just much more secluded and private compared to this one. There is a group of 4 with a couple dogs that appear to be living there. They wake up early to drop one member off at work so you'll hear the gate chain and them yelling at each other before the sun rises. After she gets back you'll hear lots of sounds.. none of them relaxing. She will be pacing around the campground screaming on the phone, the other two at the site will be listening to "music" at a louder than necessary volume, the dogs will be barking and she will randomly decide to holler at them, at some point the dog will get loose and she or the dog will come to your site, when he gets home it is guaranteed that they will again argue and threaten each other although even when she's not yelling at him she is still loud....need I say more? Thankfully we had the most secluded site but most of the other sites would have been intolerable as they have little to no privacy. It's hard to look back on the enjoyable parts of the trip because dealing with the full time group was just so painful. The mosquitos and ticks are something to be aware of. Thankfully we had spray and thermacell but we still battled the mosquitos and found several ticks on the dogs after hiking. We saw turkeys one morning and an otter down by the water. There is a nice spot to hangout down by the water."
