"**AGGRESSIVE DOG WARNING** My husband and I were staying at Camp Margaritaville & this is a short walk/bike ride away. When we arrived there were several dogs and people in the large dog side until… a middle eastern couple arrived w/ 3 dogs, one (the AGGRESSIVE DOG), a white husky w/ a black stripe going down its back. The leash of the aggressive husky was being held by the woman. The Husky was lunging and appeared difficult to handle AND THEN… the husky attacked a small(ish) poodle going right to the neck. It was a horrible scene with sounds of dog growling and the poodle SCREAMING. The woman managed to pull the Husky away w/ the leash only to have the husky break free and lunge at the poodle again going again straight to the neck of the poodle. By this time the husband ran over and was able to pull a d detach the husky from the poodles neck. This was quite the scene. At this point, the entire park started to vacate as nobody self safe w/ their dog in proximity of such an aggressive dog. I could NOT believe the couple stayed w/ their aggressive dog while everyone else was forced to leave. Outraged, I lost my cool and told the couple that not the others but they need to remove their aggressive dog from the park. The man became unhinged and screamed at me to “respect myself” the woman said “you’re not our people”, whatever all that means. The man approached the fence of which I was in the other side and yelled at me in a threatening manner and that’s when my (much larger than the man) Husband sternly warned him to not speak to his wife in such a manner or he’d do something about it. The man then called the police. 3 police cars showed up w/ police officers. Both parties were spoken to. I was disappointed that the police officer would not make the aggressive dog leave and instructed me next time I need proof in the form of a video of an aggressive dog. See rule #4 of park “Rules and Regulations- no aggressive dogs”. We were visiting from out of state and will never return but, I feel I should warn others that if you do attend this park, leave if you see this couple with an aggressive (white husky w/black stripe down the back). Unfortunately, Polk County police need proof to keep you and your dogs safe. If this dog attacks again, I believe not only are the couple legally culpable the police that allowed the dog to stay and not banish in the future are also culpable."
"Dogs always have a blast. Have to be careful of holes under fence. A lot of dogs get dumped there and dig under fence. My husband used the parks restroom this mornining and was angry that some junkie left a needle in drain on floor. Cover was of drain. Not parks fault but dangerous."
"At first couldn’t figure out where the entrance was but it’s just a short walk down the paved trail. Very nice dog park with lots of shade and seating under the shade. A spot for washing your pooch and an elevated stand to help when drying off. If you’re in the area, definitely stop by."
"This is my favorite dog park ever! It always has people in the early mornings and late afternoons. Everyone is so friendly here. I drive by so many other dog parks just to come to this one. It’s truly the best. Includes, •Friendliness •Shaded area •Benches •Dog water fountain •Dog waste station •Leash rack •Pool area for our furry friends/wash station"
"Hidden treasure for dogs. Huge dog park with kiddie swimming pools and a hose. Space for big vs little dog, and very well kept up. There is a bit of a walk from the parking lot but worth checking it out. Very user friendly for dog parents, lots of shade!"
