"Great place to paddleboard or to put in a boat. There's plenty of packing and even covered pavilions with picnic tables. I was surprised to see a roped off area for swimming, there's a little beach area. We saw tons of fish and even a few turtles."

"We we're traveling with a 16 month old child on her 1st trip to the beach. It was a red flag day, surf was pretty forceful and quite windy. Found this park on Powell Lake only a couple miles away. Water & wind were significantly calmer. The water itself was brownish, but clear. The website for Camp Helen State Park nearby explains that and says its safe. Would be a good place for kayaking or lounging on a swim mattress or other inflatable. There are shade trees and a picnic pavillion. Swing set and restrooms too."
