Carmela Coffee - Pompano Beach

"This was a nice coffee shop/cafe that reminds me a lot of Starbucks when first walking in, but with a lot fewer staff and patrons. The menu was larger and different, in an interesting way. My husband and I both ordered and enjoyed dishes we had never eaten before. Mine was Turkish poached eggs on yogurt and artisan sourdough bread, with a chili flake drizzle. I think it was cooked well, but it was quite bland overall. I really could not taste the chili at all and would have liked a lot more of it since that's what made the dish unique in my opinion. I also wanted salt, but didn't see any and did without. My husband had the salmon and barley grain bowl and he absolutely loved it. He thought the salmon was the best part - we think it was lox, but not certain. There was no dressing on it, which I thought was an oversight in the recipe, but he did say he liked it just as it was. The regular hot brewed coffee was absolutely delicious. Just the right roastiness, not bitter at all, just robust and gorgeous. The paper cups were slim and kept our coffee hot very well. The prices were a little high I think - over $40 for the two dishes and 1 coffee each. But, if you appreciate a cool menu and like trying recipes you've never seen before, this is worth the price. Our only complaint was the service. I understand that there aren't a lot of staff, so other than the food getting dropped off, table service by a waitress was out of the question. However, we felt the two women we encountered were uninterested in providing a good customer interaction experience for the duration of our stay. A little goes a long way with us, but it was just lacking. Regardless, I'd return. But... if they put staff who care in there and provided table service, this place would likely be packed every day."

"Charming, rustic and cozy - Carmella (they have several locations) is a wonderful, artisan coffee shop with exceptional and very tasteful decor. The customer service here in general is excellent and the place is always very clean. The coffee varieties are good - not the best there is (as far as purists go) but good enough :). The menu selection is well curated and over the course of several visits I’ve never once been disappointed. They don’t cut corners and the ingredients are of high quality. The fully stacked avocado toasts and sandwiches are fantastic and the portion sizes are generous. If there’s one thing I would change is the avocado itself being seasoned a little bit but they seem to serve it plain. There’s a rotating selection of freshly baked countertop items which is simply yummy. 5/5 all the way and this place has a staple in my rotation."

"A local chain does get frequently busy but they do their best to keep up the customer service. I would definitely come here again. Coffee was solid but nothing out of this world still better than a corporate company like star bucks. I'd come again the vibe was nice."
