About the Business
Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park is a stunning natural oasis located at 12301 Burnt Store Road in Punta Gorda, Florida. This expansive park spans over 45,387 acres and is home to more than 100 miles of pristine shoreline along Charlotte Harbor in Charlotte and Lee counties. As the third largest Florida State Park, it offers a diverse range of natural habitats including mangrove forests, marshes, scrub habitats, and pine flatwoods.
Visitors to Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, paddling, and wildlife observation. The park is a haven for birdwatchers, with opportunities to spot wading birds, manatees, dolphins, and other wildlife along the shallow waters fringed by mangroves.
For those looking to explore the park by water, kayak or canoe is the best way to navigate the two paddle trail systems that wind through the park. Hikers can also access upland areas of Charlotte Harbor through pedestrian walk-throughs and explore marked trails that showcase the diverse flora and fauna of the area.
Nearby, the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center (CHEC) offers a visitors center, environmental education programs, interpretive guided hikes, and 6 miles of marked trails for visitors to enjoy. However, visitors should be prepared for remote and primitive wilderness areas within the preserve, as there are no restrooms or drinking water available. It is recommended to bring a compass, map, and sufficient water for your trip.
Please note that effective Dec. 15, 2023, the Eagle Point Trail near the Charlotte Harbor Education Center is closed for repairs. Alternate routes have been established for visitors to continue exploring and enjoying this beautiful state park.

"Weather saved and killed it for this trip but the just plain trail and beaches were doable barefooted carrying our shoes No swamp puppies or murder ropes encountered on this hike. Love the area. Great mangroves and plenty of wildlife to explore."
"I walked the entire park trails are broken down into groups I had to do them all took several hours. Absolutly beautiful! Unfortunately the park buildings were closed sunday morning but just go for the walk enjoy the gopher tortoises and alligators and fresh SW Florida air."
"No words can express how awesome this place is. The scenery is amazing and the sunset is beautiful. But the best part is walking into the water and hooking up with a big snook trout or red fish and plenty other species too!!!"
"Went on a solo adventure during rainy season. It was soggy. Ankle deep or so water in some spots. The hike was worth the view but not the smell. Must have been low tide. Beautiful place!!β"
"Definitely better in dry season. Not quite as muddy. But if you're willing to forego the mud, it's an awesome park with alot of trails. There's a learning center, but was closed when we were there. Wasn't there 20 minutes, and saw a bobcat. Alot of birds. Going back as soon as it dries out a little"
