"Nice park which is also accessible via the Legacy Trail. I understand that many of the various employees have "their job" to do however, this one has me perplexed. One end of the small lake is a swimming area complete with a beach. Yet some 50 feet away on the other side is a "Beware of alligators sign." Uh hello, who's the supervisor on this job? One of the two need to go."
"Fantastic park with a mission to save & expand the population of Scrub Blue Jays. The Nature Center is delightful run by knowledgeable & enthusiastic volunteers. Displays of local wildlife & plants & interesting programming like viewing the resident eaglets. Great hiking paths, viewing platforms, picnic pavilions & swimming area. Direct access to the Legacy rail to trail off of the Legacy Picnic Area & primitive campsite."
"See how Florida looked before people came when you visit this huge park and wild life preserve. 2 square miles of natural wilderness with miles of walking trails, bicycle, picnic, playground, parking, bathrooms, camping. Only $5 per car. This is a precious resource for us to enjoy and respect."
"Not well maintained and probably the most run down of all the Florida state parks I've been to. Campsites share water hookups. Fine, if you are an even site, but you better have a 50-foot water hose for those odd sites. Sites are overgrown, and the restrooms are extremely old, with pipes screwed to the tiles. Great location near a couple of keys. Great local eateries and about 20 minutes drive from the Venice fishing pier."
