Reviews
"Really nice historical recount of the rail impact on Tarpon Springs. Extremely friendly staff."
"Old train station Well preserved and the staff is very nice and helpful."
"I cannot recommend this museum enough! The woman who greeted me at the door (who I sadly/rudely never got the name of), enthusiastically led me through thw museum giving me an extremely informative, and interesting, tour. I mentioned I had a short amount of time, and she did a fantastic job, pointing at the highlights, and going into greater details when I showed additional interest. My favorite information that I learned about was the progression of how the sponge industry in Tarpon Springs came to be, how the initial Greek immigrants were brought over through a friendship between businessmen, and all the ties this place has with pop culture in America as a whole (greek potato salad was invented here!). I was floored to learn that the woman who helped me was a volunteer. She was born and raised in Tarpon Springs, and clearly had a love for her town. I could not believe that this was a free museum, and wish I had several hours to go through every detail. A bonus - they have a cute little gift shop corner, I bought a couple of cool photos of the town for only $8! Please make sure to stop by here before you make your way down to the sponge docks. You won’t regret it!"
"A very nice museum even though it is small. Well organized, informative and the displays are well done. Information on the railroad, black history, schools, Tarpon Springs, and more. Admittance is free, but donations are appreciated."
"A must see in Tarpon Springs. So much history about tarpon springs. So many historical pictures and antiques in the old train station. We were very surprised to find this hidden gem in downtown Tarpon Springs. Make sure you find all the stars in the museum. I will certainly visit again and spend more time on my next visit."
