"I'm reluctant to write this because there are nice, courteous people who work there. BUT YOU NEED TO KNOW- We've stayed in this hotel before when traveling across the state to visit an elderly relative. This time (February 3, 2024) we got to our 2nd floor room at around 10pm. Within an hour, we discovered insects scurrying around, and once I killed one, it was (sadly) determined that they were cockroaches -and 'German'- the worst kind. I counted 9 of them before we packed up and left quickly. As a former landlord, I can assure you that occasional spraying does nothing except control the roaches for a couple of weeks. The fact that so many were scurrying around a room that has NO KITCHEN OR FOOD means that this hotel has a severe infestation. The hotel needs to be tented and treated for a month to kill the adults, and then the eggs which hatch later. I'm really sorry to write this, but this neglect forced two 70-ish people to drive across Florida for 4 hours between midnight and 4am on dark roads, complete with fatigue and the characters out on a Saturday night. Kinda dangerous for us, not to mention that we had to strip and leave everything outside, as roaches are the best 'hitchhikers' on the planet. I gave 2 stars mainly because the staff was courteous and very professional."
"The cleaning lady stole an item from our room, we immediately notified the hotel staff. The manager has refused to do anything about it, The hotel itself is nice and everyone with the exception of the night clerk. And manager was kind, its unfortunate that you have to rely on the court system when you have an issue."
"I hate to write bad reviews, but this was not a very good experience. I woke up in the middle of the night on my second night and discovered cockroaches in the bathroom. It was too late to do anything since I was leaving in less than 6 hours, but of course I was appalled. In the morning there were more. When I checked out the clerk was nice but did not apologize for this, just thanked me for informing them. I should have been credited part of my stay and at least apologized to. As for the room, it was ok but nowhere worth the price. The bed was too firm for my taste but lll more importantly it was convex, so if I slept near the edge I would have rolled off. (The second bed was worse!) The light switch by the front door only controlled the front hallway, and of the two switches only one controlled anything. To turn on any lights in the bedroom you had to walk up to the fixture in the back, through the very dark room. The A/C worked fine, but it was far in the back and so the front hall and bathroom were like 5-8 degrees warmer. There was a bizarre sliding door to separate the front hall/bathroom area from the bedroom painted in colors that didn't match the rest of the room or furnishings. On top of that, there was an odd smell like pina colada in the front hallway/bathroom area. It seemed stronger the second day, so I suspect it was an air freshener or scent used to cover something up. I was worried because my room was right near the elevator, but it turned out to be very quiet. The clerk who checked me in was very nice, but there was a sign saying "be back in ten minutes" on the counter, even though she was working. I did not care for the $250 deposit for incidentals. Seriously -- in two days what could I possibly do or use that costs that much money and why does it take so long to credit back to my card? Breakfast was adequate. Again, the room was not worth the cost, and I feel that I should have been credited or refunded part of my fee."
"Where to start!? At checkin we couldn't checkin because the servers were downso we sat in the lobby for "more than an hour" as the receptionist stood looking at us doing virtually nothing to take care of the 3 other couples waiting with us not even offing any alternatives or remedies to the situation at hand. Did I mention this all was after midnight so we were literally falling asleep in the lobby. Attempted to use tge lobby restroom and it was beyond disgusting as if it hadn't been cleaned any this month. Tye clerk was asked to call her manager for assistance and she said " why bother her, she cant do anything " . The a couple minutes later said she did call the manager as if we aren't all sitting here in front of her. She just stood there. When we did finally get a room it was beyond subpar but what do you do at nearly 2am besides make due forcibly. The sheets had brown stains in one bed so we ended up sharing a queen bed uncomfortably. There was trash on the floor as if no one even bothered to vacuum or just pick it up and dried up food particals on the desk. Then we went to try to take a shower and not a drop of soap was in the despincer, EMPTY SMH.... we bathed with hair conditioner. The shower was not clean and electrical wires were exposed inthe shower (a wet humid climate)SMH. You'd think that was all wouldn't you?! NO! As I grappled with just wanting to half cleanse myself I nearly stepped into the shower drain as the drain cover slid off the drain hole, my whole foot nearly went into the hole. What a freaking disaster. I've stayed at a many of Holiday Inns and Express and I've never been so turned off. I will not be returning to any holiday Inn or express if this is the new standard. Gross, disgusting conduct by the hotel manager, front desk agent and housekeeping."
"The front desk employees we’re very professional. It was obvious the first room they gave me did not have housekeeping clean it. The toilet was disgusting. The second room they gave me had been flooded, and the smell was atrocious. If I had any other options, I would’ve gone to another hotel immediately. The third room they gave me look like it had been wiped down and the sheets looked clean. This Holiday Inn Express is definitely not the high standard that I would expect from this hotel chain."
