Reviews of Publix Super Market at Shoppes at Andros Isle
"This Publix is a bigger store. It’s clean and well stocked. Produce department is top notch. No long lines at the register."
"Terrible deli. A pub sub used to be a nice, large sub. It is now absurd at a 25% premium cost. I tried four different Publix stores, so I guess there was a change in business policy for them to be so rude and to prepare a sub that didn't really include much. After 20 years of ordering the same subs, what a letdown. Everyone in line has noticed the same thing."
"First of all, I need to preface my comment by saying that Publix was my first employer. I started there (#50) in the summer of 1970 as a bag boy making $1.60 an hour plus tips. That was back when males had to have short hair and wear ties, there was a deposit on bottles, we burned all boxes in an incinerator, we closed early on Saturday to strip and wax the floors, employees took quarterly inventory themselves on Saturday after closing at 7pm, and the stores were closed on Sunday in observance of the Lords day. I worked at that store for 5 years and at store #161 in Palm Beach for 10 years. The last 11 years of my employment were spent in Produce where I was a clerk and a manager. During my time there I saw many changes. Sunday became just another day to boost the bottom line, scanners were introduced, in produce we began selling cut flowers and started a cut fruit program. It's the cut fruit program that I want to comment on. I understand the desire to get product on the shelves but it shouldn't be at the expense of quality. Too often I've picked up a container of cut fruit only to find it inedible because it isn't ripe. Not even close. One of the skills I learned in produce was how to pick a ripe melon, whether it be a cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon or one of the more exotic species. Clearly the produce clerks at this location, and to be fair, others, either can't distinguish between ripe and unripe fruit or just don't care because they are under pressure to get product on the shelf. Whatever the reason, it is unacceptable. You're selling an inedible product at a premium. Better the cut fruit program be used as a salvage operation than what its currently evolved into. Thank you, Christian Flierl"
"It takes forever and way too long to get a sandwich from the deli even if you order ahead. Some of us just don't have that kind of time during our lunch break. It's almost as bad in all Publix stores... but this one was definitely the slowest I've experienced. Do yourself a favor and go to Subway, Jersey Mike's, or Jimmy John's... if you can. Figure it out Publix. It's like this in almost all of your stores."
"I could usually give Publix 5 stars, but today wasn't the case. I stopped by to grab a Quick Bite and was disappointed. The problem I encountered was that they were completely out of potato wedges in the deli, and I wanted to order a tenders quick bite. I've had another location give me a different side item if they were out of wedges. Not this location, the deli manager Savanah wouldn't allow it. (Absolutely no substitutions, even if we're out of wedges.) The store was pretty much clean and organized. I didn't use the restroom, so i can't comment on that. It's nice to see self checkout registers. I purchased two items, and the transaction probably was one minute to scan and pay. For the people who are always complaining about the self checkout registers. You don't have to use them, and you're probably going to need a bagger because you have a full cart anyway. Use a regular register if you need someone bagging your groceries and helping you put them in your vehicle. They're not taking jobs from people. They take up the space for two normal registers, and there's usually two employees helping out in that section. Imagine if the four people checking out there was in front of you at one register. (You'd be complaining that there aren't enough workers.) And the 3 tenders I ate were awesome."
