Counseling & Medical Associates

"My Health Care provider is CareFirst and they connected me with Counseling Medical Associates. I initially made this appointment at the beginning of the week and when I called to reschedule, the receptionist was rude. She rushed me off the phone in a hurry and said she would “call me back” to reschedule but never did. I had to actually go and call her back to confirm my rescheduled appointment. This was on Tuesday. I was asked to also send in a picture of my insurance card which I did. My appointment was rescheduled for today, Friday November 29th at 4 pm. I was really looking forward to this appointment today. At around 1 pm I received a confirmation text to which I responded and confirmed, but then minutes later I receive a message saying “ Just one more thing, we have to charge the first visit meanwhile we bill your insurance to find out what your copayment is and your coverage. Is this ok with you?” I then ask how much the charge will be and she says $100 for first time visit and evaluation. Now, why would I pay $100 out of pocket when I have insurance ? My insurance actually CONNECTED me with this place. How do you not know how much my copay is when I sent in my insurance information 3 days ago? I then call the office and speak to ISABEL, the SAME rude receptionist from the other day. I explained the issue and she then started talking in circles and said she would call me back. She calls back 20 minutes later, offering alternatives that make entirely NO sense. She says I can pay a $20 copay, leave my card on file and then they will charge my card the remaining amount. Sounds absolutely ridiculous. I HAVE INSURANCE AND YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO FIND OUT MY COPAY FROM DAYS AGO. She even lied and said “we have been calling since the other day and they haven’t answered.” They aren’t answering right now as it is a holiday... but on Tuesday when this information was originally sent over, they WERE open. I told her this was very inconvenient especially 3 hours before my appointment. I am very upset."
