"I just had lunch with friends at New York Pizza and Pasta and had a mixed experience. The food, particularly the pasta, was delicious. However, the slow service due to understaffing was noticeable but forgivable. My main issue arose during payment. I ordered a kids meal listed at $8.99 on the menu but was charged ten dollars. It was not the $1 difference rather the lack of transparency that was disappointing. Even the server expressed frustration with the manager, Armando, for not printing new kids menus with the updated prices. When I questioned the discrepancy, Armando pointed to fine print about prices being subject to change. I also noticed a discrepancy with the mandatory gratuity; despite being a party of five, we were charged 20% instead of the advertised 18%. Armando promised to rectify it, but the revised receipt took an additional 10 minutes and only included a $2 credit, maintaining the 20% tip. This lack of transparency and failure to honor the advertised prices left me with a negative impression of the management at New York Pizza and Pasta. It's unfortunate that an otherwise enjoyable dining experience was marred by these issues."
"Maybe the best option for Italian food in SW Florida. With that said, there are a couple of problems with the services. 1. Reservations during the "season" apparently require a $10 deposit per person. Fine. 2. Despite the reservation, no tables were available at our reservation time because "a lot of reservations came in at once", which makes no sense. 3. We got a table after a 30 minute wait, but the server was overwhelmed. He was polite and asked that we be patient. 20 minutes later we put in our drink and dinner orders. The food, as usual, was excellent. 4. It's probably noted on the menu somewhere, but a 20% gratuity was included on the check with the option of adding additional gratuity. My $40 deposit or it's refund were nowhere on the check. A staff member said deposits get refunded at the end of the night. 5. It's now the next day and both charges still show pending. EDIT: It is now 4 days after the reservation. I called the morning after and was told the pending charge was just a hold and it would drop off. Well, the pending charge just became a full charge and I have disputed it with my credit card company. Management will likely reply to this post explaining the need to ensure reservations are kept and that no-shows can be debilitating. I get it. But if you're taking deposits for reservations, pay a little more attention to BOTH the reservation AND giving credit for the deposit. Why bother otherwise? Including a 20% gratuity for a party of 4 is simply not warranted. I know the staff relies on tips and often tip well over 20%, however including 20% gratuity just rubbed me wrong, especially after the reservation/deposit situation. It's not for my convenience. The whole thing feels like a money grab from where I'm standing. It falls below the quality of the food and atmosphere, makes it seem cheap. Let ME decide what discretionary gratuity I should offer based on the level of service and I guarantee we will all do much better. See you again soon."
"We got a pepperoni pizza and the garlic bread. The pizza was great. We've been trying to find New York pizza in the area, and it might become our go to. The garlic bread was fine, but we wouldn't get it again for $8."
"Super disappointed. We heard good things about this place and the service was really underwhelming. We asked for water 3 times before someone finally delivered. We asked for salt and pepper 3 times before I walked inside and helped myself to a condiment tray off of an empty table. The pizza order came out over an hour after we ordered. My wine almost got cleared from the table when I obviously wasn’t finished with it yet. One member of our party left early due to being ‘hangry’ because the order wasn’t right to being with. The first pizza order was wrong and soggy.. and replacement pizza order was still soggy and we ended boxing it all up anyway. I don’t like to complain or give less than 5 star reviews, however, as a service based business, the attitude of the staff and management was unacceptable. Their offer to ‘make it right’ was to give us dessert.. mind you, we hadn’t even had our dinner yet. Then, when we declined dessert, they offered 10% off the bill.. which the server said was the price of a pizza.. in fact it was less than a glass of wine. I won’t be going back. If you do go, I’d recommend the salad.. that was delicious."
"Chicken sandwich with with lettuce, bacon and provolone. Fries good crunch and thickness. Sweet tea refreshing. They've updated the design inside - very creative and interesting. Consistently delicious - my friends enjoy the lunch deal of pizza slices. Can take long time (if order more than pizza or waiting for check)."
