"Disappointed with Lack of Flexibility and Understanding I recently had an experience with this office that left me feeling unheard, dismissed, discriminated against and witness medical segregation for no reason beside profit. My family and I have a religious exemption from immunization, a decision we didn't take lightly and made after careful consideration. However, during our visit, we were informed that our choice to not vaccinate prevented us from scheduling a yearly wellness check-up for our child. This approach felt like a form of medical segmentation that did not respect our religious beliefs or our right to make informed decisions about our health. While I understand the importance of vaccinations in preventing diseases, I believe that it is crucial for healthcare providers to respect the diversity of their patients' beliefs and choices. The blanket refusal to provide a wellness check-up felt discriminatory and dismissive of our personal circumstances. For context, there are communities such as the Amish who have managed health without widespread vaccination. It's important to remember that all individuals, regardless of their medical choices, should have access to basic healthcare services. This review is not intended to discourage others from seeking care from this office. However, I feel it's crucial to share my experience for those who may find themselves in similar situations. I hope that in the future, there can be more understanding and flexibility in addressing the diverse needs and beliefs of patients."
"Our experience with Dr Ruiz and the run down office that looks like a time warp from the 80’s has been the WORST experience I’ve had from a pediatrician. On the bright side, the staff was nice but I’ll end it there. The Dr and her passive aggressive comments immediately put me on my heels. I brought my 15yr old in because it’s conveniently close to my house. She was condescending, rude and fat shamed my son at EVERY appointment. Not only that, but she pushed some website for vitamins on us at every appointment making me suspect that she either gets a commission from it, or partly owns it. I’m not here to just write a negative review, I’m here to urge parents not to go there. I’m a seasoned mom and I would hate for any new mom to think that this is how the dr visit experience should be. She either needs to retire or the state board needs to come and close that negative energy, crusty 80’s place down. Whichever it maybe, Dr Ruiz needs to be stopped from effecting families lives in such a negative way. Which bodes the question how the heck has she been in business for so long?!? Shameful."
"I love Dr. Ruiz. I've been taking my kids to her since 2009. She listen to my concerns and addresses them. She's awesome, I recommend her 150%"
"I never post any reviews but I must warn anyone who applies to work here!!! She will hire you in a heartbeat but just like that she will fire you.. there is a very high turnover because she is rude and disrespectful towards her staff!!! Nothing is electronic.. literally it’s all paper charts… I really would not recommend anyone to work here!!!! Run!!! Only thing good out of that office is that I still keep in touch with the girls who work there… very nice and professional.. sad to find out they are all quitting to!!!"
"My daughter is turning 2 in April, and though we don't see this pediatrician anymore, I regularly think about how awful my experience here was. Dr Ruiz was the physician at the hospital, where we spent an extra day and a half because she had neglected to sign our discharge papers. Although that shouldve been a red flag, I was a first time parent and she was the only pediatrician I knew, so we set up an appointment at her clinic. At that first appointment, my daughter's bilirubin was high. Dr. Ruiz told me her bilirubin was high because she wasn't eating enough, and that if she didn't eat more she'd have to go back to the hospital. She asked me how many ounces she was eating, and I told her I didn't know because I was exclusively breastfeeding. Against the advice of the lactation consultant at the hospital (who told me to wait at least 3 months to try pumping), she told me I needed to start pumping immediately and that I should be nursing EVERY HOUR. This was HORRIBLE advice for a new parent, and between pumping and nursing I got no sleep and had terrible mental health. For days I worried over every single ounce of milk I produced, fearing that I'd have to take my daugher back to the hospital because of my own inadequacy. She made me feel so guilty and belittled that the only two times I visited this location, I left just to go out to my car and cry. She has terrible bedside manner, and no idea how to speak to other human beings with empathy."
