"Tonight was my first visit to Academy Sports, and man, count me as a fan! I had been searching high and low for a winter jacket for an upcoming trip to Massachusetts, and kept striking out at no less than 4 other stores. Surprisingly, I was able to find exactly what I was looking for at Academy, and for 50% off no less! Scooooore! Next, I decided to mosey on over to the gun section to browse their lineup. Prices were very fair, and even matched online prices that I’ve seen. They also have a large selection of ammunition - defensive and range - for very competitive prices. I also stopped by their shoe section to peruse their boot lineup, and was very surprised to find Wolverine boots at crazy low prices! I wish I had known this BEFORE I recently bought my latest pair of boots for more money at another store. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the excellent customer service I received while shopping at Academy. The young gentleman in the gun section was very friendly and helpful. And Eva, the cashier, was super pleasant and cheerful. I hope management recognizes and rewards them for being great ambassadors. Overall, I was impressed with Academy Sports, and will definitely be back in the very near future."

"Academy Sports is a nationwide sports, fitness, hunting, and fishing retailer. This location is based in Pinellas Park near the intersection of US19 and Gandy/Park Blvd. I bought an item from this company online with instore pickup. My purchase was made on December 30th, but because of the holiday I wasn't able to pick it up until January 8. When I arrived on the 8th, I was told my order was picked up on the 3rd. I advised them that I had never even been to the store before and that an error must have occurred. I have lived in Florida for 7 years now after living in the Midwest my whole life. My Florida expectation is that customer service does not exist. However, Academy Sports employees, about 5 of them, were extremely patient and nice. They went out of their way to figure out what had happened and find my item. Ultimately, they refunded the purchase because they did not have that item in stock to replace it with. However, shortly after that they realized that the order was mislabled with another customer's order and while the items were correct, the labels were wrong - which caused my item to appear picked up when they picked up theirs. Long story short, these guys went out of their way to resolve this issue and provided amazing customer service. They have earned a new repeat customer through their actions!"

"The incompetence of the staff at the store is crazy. I went in and bought a grill when it was brought out to my truck. I should’ve looked at it but I didn’t because it was the worst grill they had in the store leaked everywhere couldn’t even finish cooking my meal. When I took it back to the store to get a replacement, the staff was so interested in what every other employee was doing, not paying attention to what he was doing . After trying to get a replacement to fix my family a meal, the incompetence of the staff not doing his job correctly now I have to wait to get another grill. This action really messed up Christmas dinner for me and my entire family that traveled here for Christmas"
