"I’m not a complainer, but I have to say, having Multiple Sclerosis is not always an easy road. The only thing consistent are the inconsistencies and frustrations MS causes in my life and my daily tasks. My state was hard hit during the “pill-mill” days and understandably, changes had to be made, however, changes that were and are being made at the legislative level make life for me (and my Doctors, frankly.) even more difficult to manage something that could be cookie-cutter simplicity for someone that has a known condition with known effective treatments. For the most part, my medicines are the same from month to month. Cognitive difficulties that have developed as my disease progresses make it essential to stay on top of my appointments and refills, etc. and that all seems to get more difficult as time goes on. When the people in my state decided it was time for medicinal cannabis, I couldn’t have been more thankful when it was (eventually and overwhelmingly ) approved. The cost of getting a MMJ license and medicine are nearly prohibitively expensive (compared to other states) and even though I have a chronic disease with no cure, I *still* must go through the MMJ card renewal process EVERY YEAR, and yes, the state enjoys nearly a $100 card fee from me every time. The silver linings around the program are multiple for me. MMJ has been able to relieve some of my disease associated pain in a way that opioids mainly failed to do-I still have to take them but MMJ fills in nicely in between. It’s safely helped me focus on tasks where I would have had to take a strong stimulant otherwise. I had taken a strong and habit forming anti anxiety medicine to achieve sleep as insomnia can be overbearing and detrimental to every day functioning but MMJ has nearly completely resolved that and with no nasty side effects. It’s been a life saver for me. Truly. It was so nice for me during 2020, due to the pandemic, my state allowed me to meet with my doctors via Tele health, sadly, that must have been far too convenient as even though there is STILL a pandemic, Tele health isn’t allowed anymore? Tele health with my Cannabis and neurologist (200 miles away) saved me tons of money and time. It was nice while it lasted and it’s frustrating that even though nothing has changed I can’t do that anymore. I have to say, DoctorsRx, who I work with to access MMJ, makes the process as simple as possible for me. Of course I forget when I have to meet them again, and I am horrible at checking my email but they are so great they send me a text with something like “hey! We’re trying to get ahold of you!” rather than just thinking “oh she must not be interested” and letting my card or recs lapse. SometimesI need that extra patience and I appreciate them so much for it. They come to a convenient location and the doctors are professionals. DoctorsRx staff I reach any time I call treat me like I’m their only patient and take care of anything needed for me immediately. I’ve been with them about four years now and their pricing is competitive for services that are completely worth it. They get a “highly recommendation” from me.
