"It pains me to have to write a negative review of someone who I cared for, and who I mistakenly thought cared for me. It’s amazing that others had a good experience with her, but that unfortunately wasn’t the case for me. Personally, I found that Delsy was extremely insensitive to my issues. As a shy person who spent her entire childhood being ridiculed and berated by my authority figures, I had no support (other than food and a roof) growing up. My family emotionally, verbally, and sometimes even physically, abused me. As a result, I had extreme social anxiety, making it hard for me to make friends growing up. I’d finally made a close friend, the one person in my life who treated me with respect, and when I lost that friendship, I told Delsy it was traumatic for me. She proceeded to tell me that I’d never been through anything traumatic in my life. She also sided with my abuser when I brought her to a family therapy session because my abuser complained none of my siblings helped her out financially. For between 15-8 years of my siblings’ respective adult lives, my older siblings never helped my mother financially. I, one of the younger siblings, actually did help out financially through my scholarship money I received every semester, but Delsy never asked about that. I got blamed for the actions of my older siblings, and to make matters worse, when I revealed to Delsy that I’d been emotionally abused by my mother, she did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help me. I kept coming to sessions every week hoping it would help, but I should’ve realized that a therapist who actively harms their clients could never help me."
