"Just hands xanax, and other meds like it's candy. Wait time is 2 hours or longer. Doctor likes to discuss his life during your visit. Rather focusing on your issues."
"Dr. Birkmire is an excellent psychiatrist who finally after many attempts at other offices, he knew right away what i needed for Severe Anxiety and General Depression. WE tried one that did not work very well, but Kevin Kearny found the right one. I know from years of having these diseases that everyone reacts differently to medications. But Dr. Birkmire and Kevin Kearny both are patient and kind and wont stop until they find what is right for you. They always return your call, even after hours if you are having problems with your meds. The only downside to Ashlawn is the wait times once you get there. I have waited almost 2 hours after my appointed time. They are booking too many people too close together. I am so relieved to finally be on my way to getting my old self back! Thanks Ashlawn"
"Birkmire office will absolutely NOT refund you. I paid my $160 medicare deductible, ALSO my insurance paid $120 to Birkmire for the Medicare deductible. I will not go back ever because Birkmire is double dipping. Taking your money and taking the insurance money without refunding you. My insurance Federal Blue Cross wrote him a letter to refund the money to me. Nope, did not help. Just know if you pay anything, you will not be refunded when your insurance pays them. No matter what the office manager Krystal tells you. When you asks her about your refund she does the deer in the headlights and says she does not know what your talking about and they are going to call the police if you continue to ask. ___________________________________________ I paid cash (have receipt) for Medicare . My insurance paid for the Medicare deductible also. Crystal, manager stated I would get a refund when the insurance came through. I have the EOB from my insurance on February 20th showing the payment to Birkmire. I have called , I have appeared in person for my next appt & tried talk to CRYSTAL. I talked to the insurance girl Mryna - very nice & helpful. She said the office is NOT giving out refunds. Carol Seville has given me so much trouble with Rx. She writes erroneous Rx then lines out like you would a check. You cant do that on a Rx! Last appt the most important Rx for me was.written 2016 this is 2017. I had to go to the ER to get the Rx. When I told her and she looked it up she flips it off as "My bad" Do not go here..."
"I'll preface this by saying I've never a Google review before. Typically even in the case of atrocious service I just mentally note to never visit that place again and leave it at that, but I honestly feel obligated to warn people about Dr. Birkmire. The first time I met him he made me cry. He spent about ten minutes talking to me and immediately diagnosed me with major depression and prescribed me pills. When I was reluctant to accept his diagnosis, he refused to speak or even acknowledge me, instead talking to my parents while I was still in the room. He, I kid you not, told them I was clearly in denial and displaying psychotic tendencies. That's when I left the room because I was crying and he clearly wasn't going to speak to or listen to me anyway. When I had to visit him a second time because my dissociation was getting so bad, and I told him I hadn't taken the pills he'd prescribed, he had the gall to say, "Which one of us graduated from Harvard." In short, please do not support this clinic. You could not pay me money to visit him again."
"Writes prescription for wrong drugs after making changes, three times. Prescribes pill sizes that are not even manufactured. Don't believe me, ask pharmacist. Must make multiple trips to pharmacy and doctors office for controlled substances, patient responsible to correct errors. Explanation: all doctors make errors...very comforting. Wonder what lobbies pushed these laws through the legislature. Office policy, all appointsments are equal length despite claiming each patient requires unique time and attention. Wait times for appointments due to backups often exceed one hour but I have waited over two hours. Urged to self diagnose and request treatment over the phone rather than doctors diagnosing and recommending treatment: new definition of patient 'centered care' I am guessing. Would not matter since all appointments are of equal length of time anyway. Everything is covered by office policies, clearly business model rather than patient centered medical model. Practice manager in meetings. Will not divulge name of owner who was in meetings on premises. Do not go in to complain, the articulated office policy is to call police. This was a referral from an emergency and inpatient treatment. Perhaps this is the best Orlando/Oviedo has to offer."
