"As a long-time user of the Mayo main campus off of San Pablo and 202, I did not know what to expect. What I got was a radiology appointment the same day and a technician Bonnie Lee who was prompt and professional. I see that there are a number of frustrated reviews, mainly for the backlog of appointments. I know it is difficult to break into the Mayo system because they have such a large in-demand practice from both the US and overseas. Yet, they are not gods who perform miracles. Like any institution, there are better and worse practitioners, so you have to do a bit of online research and in-person testing."
"My husband was on a waiting list since January 2022. I was told that the list closes at 500 and he was No. 498 and to call every month to see where he was in line. After a few months, they told me most likely December he would be assigned a doc. Every month I called and spoke to a representative and was told to keep calling back, he should be assiged a PCP in December. On my end of November call, all of a sudden they can't find him on the list. After much ado, I found out that May has "opted out" which means since he hit Medicare in May, they dropped him. Then I am told they are not taking "new Medicare patients," so he cannot be assigned a PCP. I appealed. It was denied. Never was I informed of this change even though I called every month. This is a horrible procedure."
"I have waited 7 months on the waiting list to get an appt. at this office. I reviewed the 4 doctors that are listed as working there and it seemed like they were well trained and experienced. I called today and I am close to getting offered an appt. so I can now register and I was informed that I would be given an appt. with Dr. Carbo since she is the only one taking new patients. She is not listed on the website, was trained at a foreign med school that takes 50% of its applicants and she has minimal experience and no reviews on major sites. Shame on you Mayo for not updating your website to have her name listed. I would have been more cautious of this waitlist had I known she was practicing at this location with the four others listed. I call this bait and switch."
"I tried to make an appointment for a physical to discuss some health issues I'm having but because I haven't visited the office in 3 years I was dropped as a patient. No phone call. No email to notify me. Just dropped. During my last physical, I was told no need to be seen for 2-3 years. I follow those instructions and now I'm being denied medical care. This is unacceptable!"
"Dr. Carbo is about the worst doctor you will ever encounter. I went to her for a check-up. I asked for a lab test that she said she would order for me. She not only did NOT order the test I asked, she ordered two other tests I did not need or agreed to. Get this, she ordered a vitamin D test and then lied saying she sees vitamin D deficiency in FLORIDA! Also, she's been here for like 6 months, she moved from DC, she has no idea what's going in Florida. Anyway, she did not tell me she was ordering the tests either. I was left with a huge bill. Also, she is impossible to understand. I say that as someone who has English as second language. I don't think it's a matter of accent, it's really a matter of just not knowing English. There were moments when she would just stare and not respond and look for words. I had no idea what she was saying most of the time. I don't know how that's okay from a doctor. She didn't go to school in the US so that explains why she couldn't even say medical terms. I can't imagine what it would be like having to talk about a real medical condition and not know what the doctor is telling you. Overall, Dr. Carbo is a really mediocre doctor, didn't do anything for me or my health other than waste my money and not order the lab I wanted. Now I have to wait another year to get a real check-up because of how insurance works (cannot have two annual check-ups in a year)."
