"I have been a patient here for over 20 years. 12 years ago I had to have back surgery and over the years was asked several times at several appointments by the doctors here if I would like to go see a pain management doctor. I have denied their request several times. Back in November I started having issues walking, so I went to see my old neurologist because I knew it was my back again. Under a doctor's care I was put on my nerve blocker. I went through two months of physical therapy and several MRIS to find out I needed to see a thoracic neurologist. I was not eligible for shots from the pain management doctor due to spinal cord collapsion. I was then asked if I wanted to be put on a painkiller which I stated no I don't want anything I have to Wing off of. A month later finding out the results of one of my mri's it showed I needed to have neck surgery to fix three discs that have collapsed on my spine. At this time pain has become unmanageable I was unable to lift my leg and walk I was dragging my leg beside me. I then opted to go on pain medication because I was not sleeping and I was in severe pain. A month later I had the surgery. Because I suffer from severe anxiety during my time at the hospital my dosage of Xanax was up to a third time a day instead of twice a day. When calling to inquire about a refill on my Xanax I was treated like a Street walking drug addict by WellMed and Dr Ruiz. The nurse had commented that my score was high and it was not safe for me to be on all these medications and Dr Ruiz refused to refill them. I am not a doctor or nurse so I had no idea what she was talking about. When I questioned her on what that was I was loudly informed about all prescriptions go through the state and all doctors can see them. And I said that is fine I don't understand what you were talking about what test. I said I don't understand what severe anxiety how Dr Ruiz can pull me off my medication without winging me off of it or at least having a doctor appointment with me instead of going through you. The nurse on the telephone. At this point my husband got on the phone and the nurse was actually very rude Stern and loud with him every time my husband tried to ask a question she kept cutting him off and would not listen. Finally my husband was loud and said to her if you would quit over talking me you would see I have a question that I just want answered. We then found out what test she was talking about that was so high we found out that all these medications together were very dangerous and that I should be very careful taking all of these sedative type drugs. That would have been great to know from the beginning and not treated like I was fishing for opiate drugs. I will now be pulling all my records and going elsewhere because I refuse after 20 years of being with this place to be treated like that I have more dignity. The nurse finally did apologize to my husband twice over the phone for cutting them off and speaking that way. Ruiz should be more concerned with patience and make appointments instead of having a nurse rely messages over the phone specially with something that you tell me can kill me"
