Plaza West Health Center

"The staff at Plaza West treated my husband with respect and dignity! He was a difficult patient to handle; nothing he did seemed to upset them. The staff would clean him up and re-dress him with a cheerful attitude showing much compassion. He has been in other facilities and would never go back to them because it does not compare with Plaza West's desire to keep their patients safe and happy. Nursing, Therapy, Resident Programs, and Dining were all top notch."

"My dad was at Plaza West for over a month after a hospital stay and was able to come home and is doing great due to the wonderful care he received from their nurses and therapist. Everyone we encountered were professional, knowledgeable and compassionate. If you have a loved one that needs to go to rehab I highly recommend this facility."

"My family and I were extremely impressed with Plaza West Health Center at Freedom Plaza, inside and out. The establishment is nestled in a very quiet, low-traffic retirement neighborhood of Sun City Center. From the Building Director to the receptionist and all of the staff - everyone working there was as pleasant as they could be and ensured that the visit was not only memorable for my family and I, but for the family member that we were visiting as well as other residents that were around. The rooms are shared typically but are larger than all/most similar rooms that I've encountered in the past at places like this. The building is two stories and is very well spread out, offering the residents many common areas to socialize, relax, watch TV, read, etcetera... The facility seems to be thoroughly well maintained and extremely clean on the inside while offering a sense of tranquility with its curb appeal. The visitor registration process is self sufficient via an Android tablet terminal connected to a small label printer. Singing in is a s easy as typing your name and phone number along with selecting the resident that you are there to visit. We are overall very pleased with knowing our family member is here which is great piece of mind."

"This is the worst rehab center known to mankind! My father was admitted here after being in the hospital for over a week with c-diff. So he was weak and needed help gaining his strength back. Also he has a form of Parkinsons disease where he he's practically rendered immobile. One day he was sitting in his wheel chair and somehow fell out. He pressed the nurse button but nobody came, yelled for a nurse but nobody came, even his roommate called for help but nobody came. He was on the floor for almost an hour! He had to call me on my cell to drive to this rehab to go and help him up! Unbelievable! Nobody should have to experience this kind of incompetent treatment. Once a few nurses finally arrived I had my dad already in his bed. The nurses excuse was they were busy attending to other patients settling them in for the night! Like my father was chop liver. Inexcusable and unacceptable! If you truly care about your loved one please DO NOT bring them to this place!"

"My mom was there at this facility for 2 weeks. At this time, she was supposed to have rehab and strength/conditioning prior to going home. I tried to obtain a weekly report and assessment of progress but nothing. I even told the staff to let me know of any additional information that they may need in regards my moms health but the continued lack of communication really became obvious and as if no one cared. The administration even sent my mom back to the hospital, for what they deemed her labs were not normal. All of the physicians at that hospital stated that there was nothing immediate that needed attention and that they were going to discharge her home. All of her doctors are very familiar with my moms health and condition and stated they would've have instructed Plaza West on how to handle but again, no communication. It was later determined that her medications were the cause of her not being able to be readmitted to the facility. Her medications are being provided by a specialty pharmacy, at no cost to Plaza West but they will would not allow her to come back and finish her rehab stint. This is totally frustrating experience as my mom has insurance, has family support all of the necessary documents to support her case. I would not recommend Plaza West to anyone, as the staff is lousy and the administration is interested in communicating with anyone."
