"WARNING ITS A LONG REVEIW!! Well, I am a student that is currently attending South Seminole Academy it is a good school, The teachers and other students are nice and very friendly. So while I adore this school it does have some cons. While there is a lot of trouble with students, a few fights occur during the school year but mostly is an amazing school. In 2021, They changed the rules in the cafeteria, We were unable to leave the lunch room to go outside after they made an announcement. The only exception was to go to the bathroom. There have been sudden rule changes without any announcement in the past such as; If you were out of uniform you had to change into different clothing meaning old clothes that smelled like they have not been washed in a few months. While there may be some problems with the rules and such there are also many good things about the school. During the times I have been at the school, There have been times when we had fun during class for example we would do escape rooms or have chic-fa-lay while we were in our classes for a long time. The teachers are amazing at helping kids and showing them the process of solving something or figuring something out. Some kids have the opportunity to go to a comititipon to show off their creativity or to learn the skills they might need later in life like learning the basics of another language. The school is a magnet school, Some of the classes are harder than others but there are also classes that are just right. The testing at the end of the year is stressful but the teachers help to get through it, They will spend an entire month going over stuff that we have learned in the past just so that the kids will have a better opportunity to pass a class. So while the school may be bad at times, The amazing experiences you will have will make up for it indefinitely."
"The deans at this school are nice if your on their good side but the dress code is really confusing because I wore ripped jeans that I had black pants on and they didnt dress code me but my friend wore the same thing and got dress coded for it. This other kid wore a bright pink jumpsuit and never got dress coded. Most of the boys there sag their pants and I honestly don't know how they think its attractive but anyways the boy's don't get dress coded nearly as much as the girls do, it took tillthid year to let the girls wear sweatpants when they could always wear them. I think this "dress code" takes away from students freedom of speech I think wearing clothing that we like is a way to Express our emotions and how we feel, and I think it would help us share who we our to other people."
"The dress code I don't mind so much but I do have an issue with the p.e. teachers punishing the whole class for the few students who aren't dressing out. Why did I pay for the uniform and my daughter is being punished for wearing it?! What is that teaching them? She's coming home with pulled muscles that are unnecessary and have me to the point of why bother. Couple of teachers have been great but most can be quite demeaning and do not communicate in a timely matter that can be said for the school as a whole though."
"This school gets on you for not wearing correct uniform, but does almost nothing about fights. On 11/6/2019, 15 fights broke out. During B lunch, 8 fights occurred in less than 30 minutes. 3 fights at A lunch. And 4 later on in the day. I do recommend the school though. Although many fights, there are great teachers. It has more good people than bad."
"this school not recommended AT ALL. The staff members have the audacity to be rude, racist, homophobic, sexist, self centered, and much more things that I honestly can not put into words. They came up with a “uniform policy” and failed to follow it for a whole 8 months and suddenly out of the blue they decide to start dress coding students now, when there is approximately 6 more weeks of school?! The whole school and staff are just a huge mess! Isn’t this supposed to be a leadership school? You’re supposed to be focusing on giving us students an education & teaching us to be future leaders, not putting your main focus on our appearance. When will these staff members learn to not be so self centered and actually try to teach us for once?"
