"Date: 2022+ (Current team member) Note: Highly recommend! Only negative comment is "we should have joined sooner!" Heated pool for year round swimming. Our family joined the Wahoos late summer 2022 and have swam with them year-round. We honestly can't give a single negative comment. Wahoos have a year round program (the pool is heated for the cold weather), with many options and levels of practices during the week, including adult practices that are available outside of "business hours" so you can attend and work. Even the pool's location has its perks, providing you with a beautiful view of the Dames point as you pull in. Wahoos have a motto of "power, love, and self-discipline", and it's most certainly the heart beat of the team. Coach Carlos is such a motivational coach that my child enjoys going to every single practice without complaints, even in almost freezing weather in the winter, which says a lot as my kid dislikes the cold. He and his wife make a great team, are always in a great mood, cheerful, fun, yet very professional. They truly care about every single child that swims with them. You won't regret joining this team!"
"We cannot say enough good things about Coach Carlos and Coach Stacy at Wahoos. My son has a disability and they both have been fantastic doing adaptive swim lessons with him. They are accommodating to his unique needs but also push him, and they are knowledgeable and educated on working with children with disabilities and sensory challenges. Carlos and Stacy they also have been excellent teachers to my husband and I teaching us on what we can work on with our son in the water to practice and to continue building his confidence and skills with swimming. Our son has made huge improvements in the water and we are so thankful to Carlos and Stacy for all of their coaching and support! Highly recommend!"
"I cannot say enough good things about Coach Carlos and Stacey! My son, who is almost 3, loves the water but was very insecure about leaving the steps. With water being all around us in FL as well as having a pool in the backyard, it was very important to me that he knew how to swim/survive in the water. Stacey was very prompt in email responses and made the registration process smooth. Coach Carlos was absolutely wonderful with our son in the pool. Day 1 was filled with some tears but Coach Carlos used his tricks to turn the frown upside down! Coach Carlos made all the lessons fun and individualized to meet my sons needs. My son went from refusing to get in the pool to swimming all over within a few weeks. We greatly appreciate Coach Carlos and cannot thank him enough! I highly recommend Wahoos!"
"Coach Carlos is a great swim instructor with a knack for knowing how to motivate each child. I enrolled my 3 year old daughter in beginner Starfish private lessons to learn how to swim. I love how he connected to her interests to build trust and allow her to feel safe. She was fearful during her first lesson and was scared to put her face in the water, however after the sessions went on, she become more and more brave. All thanks to Carlos's willingness to go at her own pace, while at the same time challenging her to be better. I also love that he and his wife, Stacy, offer adaptive aquatics for children with disabilities. This is such a needed service in Jacksonville. I can't recommend the Wahoos enough!"
"Coach Carlos is amazing! He really cares. He focuses on our techniques and most of all, he focuses on our well-being, by guiding and mentoring us to respect ourselves and others. He builds strong athletes with great self-esteem."
