"Made an appt for shampoo, deep conditioner, and braid down for wig and went today. From the door, I was given impeccable service. My stylist, Ms Lashonda, was completely thorough, and answered all my hair care questions and gave me product recommendations to use on my hair. Braided my hair so I could have the flattest base possible. Will be coming back. Please request for Ms Lashonda for your hair services."
"I received the best service, the receptionist was very nice and friendly. The school is so spacious and clean. They also offer facials, woow i sure enjoyed my time here, I’ll definitely be a returning costumer!!!!!"
"First off, let me state that I’ve been to several beauty academies. I know students need the practice and it’s in my price range. By stating that: this review was justly deserved. My appointment was for 10am. I get a call at 9:30 ( I was enroute to the “school) informing me that I had to come at 12:30 because the school had an impromptu field trip. REALLY???!!! You didn’t know this on the Friday before my appointment? Ok. Things happen. My daughter and I show up at 12:30. You guessed it. They were not there. There was a sign on the door that said closed until 1pm. The “teachers and administration staff” show up at 12:45 with bags of food. They said come on in, the students won’t be here until 1pm anyway”. Again, REALLY???!!! I ask for a discount because of our inconvenience. You guessed it, they said no. REALLY???!!! So, a student does my daughter quick weave(she braided her hair and not wrapped it and set her under the dryer. When I questioned the stylist about her technique, the “receptionist” stated “oh, you can cornrow her hair. It’s more than one way to skin a cat”. They didn’t eve put her under the hair dryer to “seal the glue” after her hair done. I’m not a stylist but even I know you are supposed to do that. Once again, REALLY???!!! I know most would have left by now, but we were in a bind and my daughter really needed her hair done. The staff, to me, was so unprofessional. Are you teaching your students that the customer’s time is unimportant? And the conversations in the shop... my daughter is 15. Come on now... Keep the atmosphere appropriate. This is not the place to discuss religion or your religious beliefs. You don’t know who you are offending. Oh yeah, there was a teacher or “receptionist” who did not correct the student. In fact, she joined in the conversation with the individual. I had to go over and ask them to change the topic. I understand your views are just that, your views. There is a time and place for everything. A working environment where customers is not it. This shop also nickel and dimes you. If I wanted my daughter to get her hair washed, that was a fee. At least when we went to Jacksonville Beauty Institute, everyone got a shampoo wash no matter the hair service you received. It was included in the service. I can understand bringing my own hair and wig cap. But I got to supply the glue also? Did you want me to style it also? Say it with me, REALLY???!!! I wish there was a lower score than 1 Star. I do try to give black businesses a chance with my business but this place is not worth it. Why do I have to demand better from this establishment? Leave hood in the hood. Respect your clients and their time. An appointment time is just that, an appointed time to be at a designated place at a designated time. Maybe someone had a better experience than I did. I’m going back to Jacksonville Beauty Institute or find a stylist at the flea market across the street. At least I know what I’m getting into. The good part was they were open on a Monday and my daughter said she liked her hair. I can honestly say, no tracks were showing, the front could have done better hey.....$35 not well spent."
