"Went to GCC for 10 years. Unfortunately, this place has done more harm than good. I brought my fiancé here on 3 occasions where he was targeted by pastors and embarrassed. One of those times was at a friends wedding (not a service or church event), and a staff member came up to my table and harassed my fiancé about his relationship with God during cocktail hour. The pastor and family go on several vacations that I’m assuming are paid. The business additions seem like such a cash grab and also a cult tactic… make the organization people’s livelyhood and they become dependent and can’t leave. My mom was in the hospital nearly dying from Covid 19 and you would think after so many years of being involved in multiple ministries of the church, they would call and check on her but only one staff member did. There are good people that work there but they are overshadowed by a huge lack of accountability, an overwhelming attitude of fake positivity and emotional manipulation tactics. Generations is a show, not a honest and open church. They teach love and forgiveness, but support conversion therapy for members of the LGBTQ+ community. They preach about staying pure until marriage, but nothing about consent. The church favors people who “fit in”. One time, I brought a friend to this church who had a rough life and had a criminal record. After he came to a college small group, the leader called me and told me “those type of people aren’t my responsibility to reach”. Whatever that meant. There have been multiple occasions where I felt pressured as a young person to share vulnerable information with adults who are practically strangers. One time during a trip I was on, the pastors had us text them the most difficult sins we were dealing with, so they could help us. They made us all do it. They promised to help us overcome them and keep us accountable, but ended up never mentioning it again. They got 50 students to tell them their darkest secrets for no reason… that is alarming!!!! I remember them asking a girl I volunteered with to step down from her volunteer position because she was in a relationship with a girl- Claiming that it made her unfit to work with kids! I have so many stories and could go on and on. After leaving, I have major healing to do. I love God but I’m not sure how ato trust any church again. For those of you are still attending and have your blindfold on, I pray one day you see the light. I am Ashamed I didn’t see the corruption sooner."
"This church has a lot of activities for a variety of younger people. However the two times I visited I was disappointed in the sermon. I found it very watered down, not preaching the gospel, maybe a Bible verse or two. I also noticed it was not a spirit filled church. I attended one of the Christmas Eve services and almost walked out. Christ was not celebrated hardly at all. For the children it was about Santa and a skit on The Night Before Christmas”……rather than celebrating the birth of Jesus. Overall the congregation was nice but don’t expect to grow in Bible teaching and knowledge, this church seems to be pretty worldly ….this is just my opinion, I prefer Bible teaching churches."
"Tried this church out twice, all the pastor talked about was how we should be donating to the church. Literally told us that if we are not donating 10% of our income to the church we should leave."
"Does this church practice what Jesus preached? Would he kick a believer from his presence? All I did was try to make a playdate for my new dog. Their closest security guard was far away and was talking to someone else. How could he hear what I was saying? Yet he said he heard it all I could not d myself. I was thrown out of the church I loved.Jesus would never have done that. Is this what Jesus preached?"
