"They put just as much care in their side dishes as they do the meat. The Mac and cheese is the best I’ve had at a restaurant. Even the rice get love and care. This has to be the best soul food restaurant in Tampa! Thanks!"
"People great. Food good. Not a fan of the explicit music they were playing during the lunch hour. They had tables outside which was nice as we ate in peace."
"My boyfriend and I were walking in the mall. A beautiful young lady gave use a flyer to try this place out. We visited the restaurant and it was worth the trip. The chicken was so good with greens. My boyfriend enjoyed the squash and macaroni and cheese. The banana pudding was amazing. They played good music! Its a place we visit again when visiting that area."
"First time here visiting from Broward County. Food was excellent and seasoned well. We had the smothered turkey, fried chicken, fried porkchop and baked bbq ribs with the mac and cheese, collards, yams, cabbage, green beans, and white rice. Employees were very nice and inviting. Will definitely be back when in Tampa and told my Tampa family about it!"
"I am visiting Tampa, buying a car. I left the dealership and was looking for a place to eat lunch. Looked up places near me and it popped up, advertising their soul food. I actually passed the place, attached to a lodge, but I think that was my fault. Made the block and went on in. It is cafeteria style, you go through the line choosing your food items. It seems like they may do some live entertainment, as there was a stage in place. The food looked and smelt delicious. I only saw 2 workers, but it appeared most people stopped and purchased their food to go. It was me and only one other couple dining in. The staff was friendly and made you feel welcome. Before I left, a 3 worker, who may have been the owner or manager, walked around to ask seated customers if all was well. I had baked chicken, rice, string beans and cabbage. I was able to choose a meat and 2 sides. I also had a choice between white and yellow rice. Your choice of meat determined your price. Everything on my plate was delicious. My only reason for giving a 3 star rating is there was rap music playing overhead (that's a personal preference, so it is not a big ding) and there was water on the floor, big slip and fall hazzard, with no caution signage. When the manager came by, she noticed it and put signage, but there was no attempt to clean up while I was there."
