Reviews of Captain Curt's Crab & Oyster Bar - Siesta Key
"Great service. Good food. I had the fried seafood extravaganza that could have used a few more clam strips. Not that I was hungry and needed any more. The fish was very fresh and I liked that the batter didn’t take over. We had steamed clams and the broth was light and lemony not grossly buttered. The fish spread was amazing. We like our fish spread. To me it was my favorite. Our friends had hogfish they said was so fresh and delicious. My husband had the Cajun combo with file fish and was even raving about the veggies."
"Nice atmosphere, clean bathrooms, clean restaurant. Server was great! Crab legs were awesome, veggies were not spiced. Fries were cold. Clam chowder, out of this world-AMAZING!"
"I cannot say enough great things about this place. We walked in late, an hour before closing and these folks fed us some of the best food. We ordered the captain's plate, fried oysters, shrimp and grits and the broiled file filler. The food was so good we just raved over it. The file fish, unbelievable. It was cooked perfectly. Soft, tender, full of flavor. The shrimp and grits, now this is the perfect comfort food. We really enjoyed this restaurant and couldn't recommend it enough. 10 stars guys."
"This was my first visit, I decided to try a bit of everything I like, since many places in the area seem to shy away from fried seafood, while Captain Curts seems to have everything. I went with the calamari, fried alligator, and the seafood extravaganza plate. The calamari and fried alligator were decent, but not as good as I was hoping for, but I never pass up the chance to try fried alligator at another place, as Ive had some with no flavor, and some that was amazing. This place fell in the middle. The seafood extravaganza plate – a cornucopia of flavors featuring fried fish, clams, and shrimp was great. The fish was flaky and perfectly fried. But the pure amount of fried food on this plate met my hunger for fried seafood that I had not been finding elsewhere, as steamed and broiled seafood seem to be the popular option in the upscale and island areas. Opting for rice and coleslaw as my sides proved to be a wise choice. The rice was fluffy and coleslaw provided a nice departure from all the fried goodness. Service at Captain Curt's was commendable, with a waiter who not only ensured our dining experience was seamless but also went the extra mile by supplying a bowl and water for our furry companion. This thoughtful gesture added a personal touch to our evening, making us feel genuinely welcome. I would definitely return to try some more items, as many of those I tried this visit were very good."
