"A Montessori education is different. The children don't sit in their desks all day and listen to their lessons. They are given the freedom to decide what they want to learn throughout the day, often working with materials that allow them to explore concepts that interest them at their own pace. Montessori of Winter Garden Charter School is a public (no tuition) school that has been absolutely wonderful for my kids. They have been going there since Kindergarten. Our oldest started in Kindergarten when the school first opened. They have absolutely thrived. This school may not be ideal for everyone. Parents are expected to volunteer 20 hours per school year. (On the other hand, homework is kept to a minimum.) Montessori students must learn how to be self-motivated and pursue their educational interests independently. (Most children love this and learn more as a result, especially if they start doing it from an early age.) Montessori teachers must trust the Montessori method and their students and facilitate self-directed learning, actively guiding and encouraging each student as they make their own work choices. This school has amazing teachers!"

He is able to learn at his own pace and is above grade level in most subjects. It is a wonderful and supportive learning community with involved parents and happy teachers.
