a Family Resource Center (Child Care Resource Center and Employer Child Care Alliance)

The Family Resource Center, located at 510 South 7th Street in Opelika, Alabama, is dedicated to promoting strong families through support services and education for child care providers, parents, employers, and the community. As a non-profit organization founded in 1989, the center receives funding through contracts, grants, and donations from various government, corporate, civic, charitable, and individual sources.

The center serves as a child care quality contractor in a five-county region, offering training and professional development for childcare professionals, assistance in locating quality child care, financial support for childcare, family services, resource and referral, parent education, and prevention of child abuse and neglect. The center is accredited as a Family Resource Center and is governed by a board of directors comprised of community leaders, child advocates, and partners.

The center also promotes the prevention of child abuse and neglect through initiatives such as the Children's Trust Fund specialty license plate program, which funds community-based prevention programs in Alabama. Various organizations, including the Alabama Department of Human Resources, Alabama Department of Public Health, Lee County Partnership for Children, and the Children's Trust Fund of Alabama, support the center's mission to strengthen families and support child care providers.
