"DO NOT HIRE!!! Edit: My original 5-star review was written naively prior to Phillip Clay completing work at our house. Since writing this review we would never hire nor recommend Phillip to anyone for anything. We hired Phillip on a recommendation from our realtor. He appeared professional and responsive. After hiring Philip we realized that he was not who he was presenting himself to be. Phillip quoted us on a plumbing job and claimed he would be able to complete the work in 2-3 days. He was to start the plumbing repair work on Friday, 5/21 and said he worked 7 days a week. He consistently came to the job anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours late, giving multiple excuses each time and not staying more than 4 hours each time no matter how late he was. By Monday, Phillip claimed he only had a couple more things to do and apologetically asked when he would be able to come again as I did not allow him into our home to work without someone else present. As I had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday, I told him he would be able to come at 10am on Wednesday. He arrived late and left early again. We agreed he would then come back on Thursday. He came late again, claiming he needed supplies. By 7:45pm he was not done. He claimed he would go and get more supplies at the Home Depot which was 10 minutes away, but did not return until an hour later as I was locking up the house to leave. Phillip then texted multiple times as he wanted to be paid for the job before the weekend and did not want to work on Monday despite verbally agreeing because it is Memorial Day. He again insisted that the job would take no more than 15-30 minutes to complete. My husband agreed to meet him from 8-9am to finish the work. Due to traffic, Phillip did not arrive until 9:15am. By 12:15pm, Phillip was still unable to fix a leak that occurred as a result of his work. Phillip then left to get supplies again and I waited for him at the house again because my husband was unable to stay any longer. I informed Phillip as he arrived, that I would not be able to stay after 3:30pm and he would not be paid unless the work was done properly with no leaks. He agreed. At 3:30pm after giving Phillip an additional 6 hours to finish the job, he was unable to do so. He came to me with the expander which he had broken off of our water heater, which was not included in the job. I told him I now had to leave and so did he. He continued to make excuses as to why he could not finish the job despite multiple opportunities to do so. I reminded him that he had ample time and opportunity to complete the job and his incompetence had nothing to do with me. I asked him to leave my house immediately. He insisted he be allowed to stay and continue to work. I told him he could come back the following week, but we did not have any more time to give him as we were preparing for our baby shower the next day. He claimed he would be too busy and insisted on being allowed to stay as he wanted to be paid. I told him he had to leave. He continued to argue and I told him he could leave now or I would have to call the police on him now for trespassing. He exited the house but remained in front of the house, blocking my car in the driveway. I told him again to move his car. He then told me he was calling the police because he needed to be paid, despite not having completed the work. He moved his car and I left the property. My husband chose to give Phillip yet another opportunity to fix the leak(s). He was still unable to do so. We have come to find out that "Phillip Clay" does not have a lapsed nor active plumbing license in the State of GA. He uses someone else's license in order to file plumbing permits. We now have to hire an actual plumber to fix his mistakes as well as pay for any electrical and/or structural damage Phillip has caused to our home."
"We hired this company to install our walk in tub for our 80 year old mother, his worker stole our materials according to the contractor, we put up with 3 months of him leaving the job and coming back with a new excuse to get the first two pictures you see. When we finally let him go and hired another contractor he told us Reliable put a kitchen sink trap on a walk in tub drain, did not put in a sub floor before installing the tile. Glued our marble tile down to the old linoleum floor and it cracked the first week of use. We ended up replacing the entire floor. The new contractor had to do the entire walk-in tub install job over. I am posting this to help others, sorry we did not do this before the last two posts. Keep your money and hire an expert with good customer reviews. The last picture cost less and was done right."
"DO NOT RECOMEND!!!! Usually I don't write reviews but I would hate for anyone else to be taken advantage of again. at first everything was going great other than his lack of attendance(always had a reason of why he couldn't make it) which at first I was being truly understanding because of the times we are in(2020). how ever once I started noticing small things that lead me to call another contractor out to look at the work for a second opinion (because I myself am not a contractor and don't know right from wrong). he basically pointed out all of my worries without me saying a word. when I reached out to mr. clay in regards to the matters he said it was because he was not yet finished. I have been told that the work that has been done can not be simply corrected without loosing all materials used(tile floors And window) when I looked up mr clays company for my legal information I found a review with basically the same M.O.... My one project was going on for a month(November24 till December 27) before I called it quits. I was initially told that the job would only take 3 days.. I requested mr. clay refund me half of my deposit because I was at least acknowledging the fact that he did do work on my home. but due to the new costs(new materials, demolition fees) that I would need to be reimbursed. and unfortunately I will be taking legal actions"
"The crew members that came to my house were very detail oriented. They took all of my thoughts and inspirations for my renovation and it turned out exactly how I imagined it! I highly recommend this company to anyone and every one I see."
"Total their! He purchased tools and materials that were for his own personal use. I have supporting evidence of it. He took a job and did not complete it. He may have done 30% of the job but was paid nearly 100% of the money. Do not use! Beware!"
