"Good Ol southern help, just like back in the day."
"We just stopped in to get information on apartment rentals which they don't do however The agents there were able to point us in a good direction friendly courteous And professional.Thank you for your kind hospitality."
"They rent out slum homes. They made deposit demands, or the home is gone. Was caught in a bind and felt like trash. Slow in getting house ready. They MAIN concern, is getting money. Probably a trump supporter. Mean and uncaring. Buying a house soon. Would Never use cook rty for anything."
"One only needs to read the unprofessional and inappropriate ranting on their webpage to understand that this company is trashy and ghetto! The owners will surely have their day in someone's courthouse with the illegal and unethical rental processes that take place there! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM, NOR RETAIN THEM TO MANAGE YOUR PROPERTY!!!"
"My wife and I found an apartment that was being managed by Cook Real Estate, and after looking at the apartment we decided to fill out an application for rental. We were told it would be $700 to fill out the application and that if approved $350 (the price for rent) would be applied to our first month's rent and the other $350 would be held as a deposit. If we were not approved, Mr. Cook told us that we would get all of our money back. While filling out the application, a woman came in with her deposit for the same apartment for which we were applying. The woman told Mr. Cook that Brian Lameier (the Cook Real Estate sales associate who manages the property) told her that the apartment was hers as long as she brought in her deposit after work, which she did. Mr. Cook told her that they have a first-come-first-serve policy and that we had already reserved the property with our deposit. She stormed out and called the office a few minutes later to complain. The day after filling out our application Brian Lameier called us to let us know that we were approved for the apartment. We tried to set up an appointment to get the key and sign the lease, but Brian said he was going hunting and could not meet with us until the Monday after Thanksgiving, nearly two weeks later. He also told us that the lease started immediately, even though they were doing electrical work and that the apartment was not going to be ready until the next week. He also told us that he didn't know if the stove or dishwasher worked and that he would not fix them if they did not work. We explained that we did not want to start paying rent on the apartment until we were given access to the apartment, which was our understanding when we signed the lease. He told us that if we backed out they would keep half of the money. After explaining again that we needed to get the key or start the lease when we were given access, Brian said, "You don't run this show, I do." We told him that we were going to contact our lawyer and he hung up the phone. He called back a few minutes later and told us we could pick up our check at the office. The other tenants at the apartment told us that they had to call an inspector in order to have things fixed. It seems that Brian is used to pushing people around and we just want to keep them from taking advantage of other people."
