Reviews of South Newport Campground
"Was here for one night on the way to TN. Loved the simplicity of having a pull thru so I didn’t have to disconnect my fifth wheel. Very friendly staff and clean location. Def recommend if passing thru in a similar fashion. Thanks South Newport!!"
"Super nice people. We showed up very late, because of traffic, they stayed up late, gave us directions in and went way beyond what should be expected. This is a good half point for us to Orlando, and we will be stopping here again."
"This is the best campground I’ve been to in my life, it’s quiet, peaceful, small, and surrounded by beautiful Georgia live oaks. But the southern hospitality you receive from ms. Cindy is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. She’s the the sweetest thing and if you wanna experience the sweet south, thi is where you wanna come"
"I was weary of going here based on other reviews but decided to give it a try…. KEEP DRIVING! Bypass this place if you can help it!!! Seems to be all long term renters with just a couple spots available. Paid and reserved online and filled out all the information correctly. Arrived, waited at office for several minutes for directions, no one came out. Found the site we were supposed to be in. Parked and hooked up, started to make dinner and then was called by the owner and told we needed to leave because we were in a converted school bus. No where on the website did it say that and no one was even there to check us in when we arrived. We paid and fulfilled our part of the contract and we were discriminated upon because of our type of RV. Which is very clean, self contained and in very good operating order. So we were made to leave as it was getting dark after being on the road all day. I know they couldn’t have legally made us leave due to a signed agreement… We didn’t want to stay in a place that we weren’t welcome. They tried to make us leave without giving our money back. Finally after explaining that I would not leave until I received my money, and them finally giving us our payment back, we went on to stay at a really nice campground about an hour south. There are many other nice places to stay, DEFINITELY, choose another option."
"This is a very quant quiet place to stay. Owner Cindy is the meaning of southern charm and hospitality. We were looking desperately for a place for a month to stay in our 37ft toy hauler, while my wife finishes out her travel contract at the hospital in Brunswick. Luckily we found this campground .. zero fancy, back to the basic kinda of camping with great internet. Any issue, Owner is right there to make sure all things are resolved quickly. Our rv was parked under a 250 year old southern live oak tree, beautiful backdrop for full time RVing. This place is definitely a hidden gem on old hwy 17.. No thrills camping."
