Reviews of Watson Mill Bridge State Park
"Beautiful park! My son and I visited Watson Mill Bridge State Park in December 2023. We walked a few trails, which took a few hours. It was about a 30-minute drive from Athens. They have a Visitors Center where you can pick up a map of the park and hiking trails. It also has a cute gift shop. Parking is $5.00 for the day. They do offer yearly parking passes as well. I recommend Watson Mill State Park for something fun and interesting to do on a budget. I can't wait to visit Watson Mill Bridge Park this summer!"
"We spent thanksgiving here in 2023. we really enjoyed the park. The staff was very kind. The park was clean. They camp host were very friendly. We used one of The Pavilions on Thanksgiving. There were three tables in there as well as electrical power and lights and a grill which we used to keep our food warm while we were waiting to serve it. Very nice"
"I can't believe I waited so long to go there. This park is amazing - the staff, the campground, the scenery, the bridge, the trails - amazing! The tent/RV campground is small, but quiet, shaded, and well maintained. The outer spots on the loop are the best, but they all have some advantages. If you have a horse, part of this park is dedicated to equestrian activities with stables, trails and an equestrian campground. I really love all of the Georgia State parks I have visited, but this one is definitely in my top 5!"
"I love this place so much. The covered bridge is so incredibly built and I love seein the wooden spikes they used. There’s a really fun swimming and picnic area, a nice walking trail, and a great store at the office. The rangers are awesome and open to answering any questions you may have. Everything about Watson Mill Covered Bridge State Park is AWESOME!! Kids love it too."
"Lovely 1000+ acre State Park near Comer, Ga. The covered bridge and falls are a must see, so plan to spend a day enjoying the falls, water and park area. The campground has mostly pull through heavily shaded sites with two bathhouses. The bathhouses are showing their age and subject to out of order. Frankly, the circa 1885 bridge is in better shape than the campground. The hosts are lovely and eager to help. While the camp hosts are doing their best, the state needs to focus attention on roads and campsites. They are tired and need attention. Big rigs and even a 28’ trailer will slip into a rut in the turns in the campground. Be careful. The 50amp power is clean and consistent. The water ran clear with good pressure. The single dump station located in the center of the park is a lesson in patience and maneuvering skill. During our stay we had a tornado watch and the camp host went from site to site alerting each on what to do and where to go. That’s next level attention. Verizon service was better than ATT. Pay attention to how you enter the park as the covered bridge has a 9’ height limit. Enter the park from the west off of Georgia Highway 22. If you come from the East, off Georgia Highway 72 you’ll have to cross the bridge be subjected to the bridge limit. The town of Comer is 4 miles away if you need to stock up on groceries, fuel or enjoy a small but lovely Mexican restaurant or diner. Lovely park and with some attention from the Parks Department, it could be a crown jewel. I regret the 4 stars but it’s just not 5 star right now. Still recommended."
