"Great history of rugged homesteaders. Actual descendant was onsight to interpret and answer questions. Beautiful area that is quiet and the air was so clean."
"Good friends Great Great Grandmother lived & grew up here! How cool! My generation end of "Baby-Boomers" can still recall their Grandparents living this way. Today it would be called living off the grid but back then it was called survival! Lol I literally walked up on the front porch and read the plaque dedicated to the Chesser Family and emotions hit hard! Some of my fondest Summers were spent on a place like this in West Kentucky with my Nanny as a little girl! The only thing she ever needed from the store was sugar, cornmeal, and flour. Totally self-sustaining she did have electricity but no indoor plumbing if there was a whale with clean water for washing and cooking. We grew everything we ate raised everything we needed never went hungry - Good times"
"Great park for hiking. Very relaxing, and beautiful."
"Lovely visit. Would have been even better if the house had been open to see inside. Easy walk out to it. Loved the time spent in this wildlife refuge."
"We went for a field trip and loved the little cabin and trails back behind it. It is so peaceful. The trails aren't too long but really great for just walking. And the cabin still has hand pumps that work. So cool"
