"I highly recommend the short detour to reach this high elevation overlook located at the North Carolina border. In fact you drive thru North Carolina a few miles before turning back into Georgia. It is a extremely winding and a elevated climb to reach. Wide turn in to park and view the valley below. I'm sure this place gets crowded during fall colors peak. I went a week or so after peak but still enjoyed the view. Careful driving down, the grade is as much as 10%. Winter driving could be hazardous."

"The highest city in Georgia (the state) Sky Valley overlook offers an incredible view. Located on the side of the road it is free and very easy to access. We were there for about 20 minutes and did not want to leave. If you are any where near there it's worth going out of your way."
