Reviews
"Hello Chef Hawkins. ✨️ I'll be honest. I struggled with this review. Not because the food wasn't good, it was great! But I've always been as honest as Keith Lee with my reviews. I've left many Google reviews good and bad for many places. Including Crabs on the Run. Unfortunately, I didn't know whether to delete my last review from Google (which was good) to write this one because you can only leave one review on Google regardless of how many times you visited. However, I decided to remove the last one because there was no way to leave you a personal review. I couldn't find an email. Instagram DM said the message was too long. In the past, I've given reviews directly to the owner but only if I knew them personally. But I've frequented your restaurant about 4 times. Now I'm not saying the customer service is horrible but it could use some work in a couple of areas but I would like to share my experience in hopes that you'll consider them for future reference. 1. The biggest concern for me was placing an order and the cashier being called from the back in the middle of the order. He also couldn't take cards on the register he was on. Patrons went to the other side. He was a nice staff member and handled the chaos well but my suggestion is to maybe get earpieces and/or walkie-talkies. He was constantly leaving the register to get drinks, orders, utensils, to-go orders, etc. 2. The menu - it's constantly changing due to items running out. I get that things sell out but if I look at your menu online or on Instagram it should reflect today's menu. I saw salmon on Instagram but when I came there was none. Nor was it on the menu so I didn't know if that was a special or if it was just sold out. Also, as my order was being placed the cashier got a call and had to explain certain items were for Soul Food Sundays. My suggestion is that a menu should be posted daily and/or the days should be clearly outlined. The menu should also be somewhere near the register. The cashier had to leave to clear things from the menu that were sold out. 3. To me, you mentioned that items from the receipt you couldn't see in the back. So when orders came out like mine and the tables on both sides of me things were missing. I'm guessing you're working on a system. Hope you can get that figured out so you won't have to ask multiple times what a customer ordered or have to keep explaining to the customer internal issues or apologizing. 4. I left this one last because I didn't want it to overshadow the other issues and fought overnight about if I should mention it. But if I'm going to be honest I'm going to be COMPLETELY honest. When I came in I was not greeted, nor was I asked once I finally got my food and sat down to eat "Was everything good?" I came in before this caucasian and foreign family. When the owner walked by she said "Hey Family. Glad you came in." After they got their food they were also asked by the cashier and the owner, "If everything was good." I came in, ordered, sat down, asked for missing items very humbly, sat to eat, cleaned my booth, packed my order to leave, and not me nor any customers other than that family were greeted the way they were. Even when the table was approached with food that was ordered, mine nor the 2 around me got a hello, thanks for coming, enjoy, sorry for the wait or a goodbye. I don't want to be inclined to believe you treated them that way because they were the only Caucasian/foreign patrons but I would suggest everyone should get the same treatment. Not just a certain group of people or people you know. If you're too busy or overwhelmed hire a waiter in addition to the cashier. 5. The food was great! Please take my experience and suggestions into consideration. As it's meant to be constructive criticism. I encourage people to go and enjoy the food. Expect a wait to order. But not too much of a wait for the food. The music is good. Please support as I'm not sure if my experience is just due to needing more funding or better processes. She started from her home so I love the growth thus far."
"Out of town for business and wanted to try something different. This place can easily one day be 5 stars. When I ordered the seafood egg roll app and the 10 shrimp and rice dish I thought that should be plenty to fill me up. The total came to $65. I was so confused "what did I just order" app and entrée $65. I decided to stay but couldn't stop thinking of omg I just spent $65 on just me. Crazy. Then the food came out. It was a stuffed to-go platter. I was definitely impressed. Then she said she will be back with the other platter soon. I was like "OMG" the amount of food you get is wild. So wild that they need to stress "our portions" in my opinion because they are that big. The price point should have made me question but again. App and Entrée I thought. This is enough food for 4 people and unfortunately it's going to be wasted since I'm not from here. I do still give 4 stars because the service was amazing. Even the "I assume" owner came out and asked how everything was and I told him the same on the portions and how impressed I was. I loved him being so proud to come out, you dont see that often. This is not a tipped setting so you do save money there compared to other restaurants. With training they could easily have servers one day soon to help make it even more enjoyable. The reason not 5 stars is because they were out of crab legs and that's the main reason I went to a crab place. The portion size must be shared with customers but I think its fantastic. Overall a place I can say I will remember even if most of the food gets wasted. I personally get upset wasting so that part hurts but I feel I can help others if they see this review, everything else is awesome. I came for different and amazing and I did get that experience. Loved the owner said have a blessed day. Thank you!!!"
"This was my first time here and it wasn't bad.i like what they are building at this restaurant. They were out of alot of items so the menu was limited. Please, by all means, check them out."
"We're out of town from Sarasota for the day and wanted something yummy to eat. I'm not a seafood fan, but I still enjoyed this place! I got the mac n cheese, potatoes, chicken, rice, and corn. The corn was my favorite thing with the spicy butter. I also think the rice was the best I've ever had. My other half got the crab dinner. He said the crab was hard to get out of the shell, but he liked it still. SO MUCH FLAVOR in everything. The people that work there are super nice, too."
