"I would like to share my personal experience with Dr. Amelia Zelnak, based on two separate encounters I had with her. While Dr. Amelia Zelnak undoubtedly possesses extensive knowledge in her field, my interactions with her left me feeling rushed and, regrettably, hopeless about my life and treatment options. My first encounter with Dr. Amelia Zelnak lasted a mere 15 minutes. During this time, she hastily jotted down a list of overwhelming treatment options, without taking into account my emotional and human aspect. While her expertise is evident, it was disheartening to be treated as though I were a lab experiment rather than a person seeking medical care. The second encounter occurred during a nurse education session. Dr. Amelia Zelnak hurriedly entered the room and immediately began discussing my PET scan results. At first, I assumed she was genuinely concerned about my well-being, but it soon became apparent that she was using this as a means to push the standard care plan onto me. Despite knowing that I had metastases elsewhere, she was insistent on initiating treatment without waiting for the definitive results from the second PET scan. Furthermore, she charged me for this unscheduled visit, citing it as valuable time. She seemed to invalidate my concerns and the unique aspects of my condition, instead rushing me onto the standard treatment path, alluding to my age as a reason for doing so, without addressing my concerns about potential side effects. Dr. Amelia Zelnak's approach to handling my insurance claims also raised concerns. She submitted two claims with the same CPT code without differentiating the conditions, leading to my insurance declining the PET scan. She delegated the task of communicating with the medical review team from my insurance to her nurse, who lacked the necessary knowledge to explain the distinctions between FES PET and FDG PET scans. Additionally, attempting to schedule appointments or reach Dr. Amelia Zelnak's office was a consistently frustrating experience. I was often directed to voicemail when trying to make contact, which was particularly troubling considering I was a new patient. This initial difficulty in reaching her office raised significant red flags regarding the overall responsiveness and professionalism of her practice. In conclusion, while Dr. Amelia Zelnak may be a knowledgeable physician, her rushed and seemingly impersonal approach to patient care, coupled with issues regarding insurance claims and office accessibility, left me with a deeply unsatisfactory impression of her practice. I believe it is essential for healthcare providers to not only possess expertise but also demonstrate empathy and consideration for their patients' unique circumstances and concerns."
