"I have been seeing Dr. Burns for a number of years and his treatment has changed my life. I am so lucky to have found someone so competent and knowledgeable in the field of mental health. I have seen around 5 or 6 doctors/therapists in my life. While all were fine/ok in the treatment they gave, they did not challenge my thought patterns or behaviors to the point where I would make substantial progress. It was more so 'and tell me more about how that is making you feel.' Or worse, they would just chalk up my behavior or thoughts as 'that's just the nature of your diagnosis.' Dr. Burns stands out above the others in the fact he will challenge directly what maladaptive thinking/behavior you bring to his sessions. He does not focus on my diagnosis rather focuses directly on me and my brain. He's not afraid to have me rewind what I've said or done and show me what I'm doing/thinking isn't helping. He helps me see that I have agency over my thoughts and behaviors, that despite the diagnoses causing hinderances, its not an end all be all I'm stuck thinking/behaving this way forever. That I have control and can learn to get that control despite it being tougher in some areas for me than others. I've needed that badly in my life and I can finally see amazing progress in my ability to get through stress/challenges in my life. Situations that would cause me immense difficulty in the past are now so much easier to get through; I really feel like a new healthy person. Its taken me many years to get to this point, but I'm so glad I stuck with treatment and found Dr. Burns in the end. Cannot recommend him enough."
"I have been going to Dr. Burns for 4 months, he is wonderful to speak with, great insight, I learned about reframing. Office is cozy and has wonderful professional staff."
"I've been going to Dr. Burns off and on for about two years now and I'm so extremely happy I found him. He is very competent in his field and really knows what to say to challenge my own thinking and belief systems. I return to him every time I start to doubt myself and he really says the right words to make me questions my negative thought patterns. Recommend him 100%."
"I was going through an extremely tough time. Dr. Burns helped me through it. He is a competent doctor and knew exactly how to help me. God bless him!"
"Was referred by my son's Dr. We went Nov 4th, 2016 to fill out paperwork and to talk to the Dr about the next steps. Because my son has Amerigroup, they said it would take up to 6 weeks for the insurance to approve it. Dec 5th, a month later I call. "Oh we're still waiting to hear back from the insurance". So I call Amerigroup....they never sent the request in. So I called again the next day. The receptionist said, oh well I did it online so it must not have went through. A week later I call back and Dr Burns himself answers. I told him what was going on and he said, well I need to check with so and so and see what's going on and we'll give you a call back. Guess what?? NO CALL BACK!!! I had to pull my son from school because of behavioral issues on top of getting bullied because they refused to get him the help he needed. I took my business elsewhere, like Rome, GA where their Dr's know how to treat patients."
