"Nope. Nope. Nope. DEFINITELY DO NOT GO THERE FOR JUST MENTAL HEALTH (ESPECIALLY if you have ADHD and/or a seizure disorder), however it’s not great for detoxing either because the mental health support is simply just lacking. There’s nothing to do except smoke cigarettes and watch tv all day. They fired the cooks and started buying everyone fast food for lunch and dinner (Cracker Barrel, pizza, Panda Express, captains D’s, Olive Garden) which is terrible for depression. The “gym” is pretty much just a treadmill in the corner and some yoga mats. Which…like…that’s fine….? But don’t call it a gym lol I was there for four days and they wouldn’t let me have my seizure and depression meds but were always willing to pump me full of sleeping medication. Keeping you as an in-patient as long as possible seems to be the overarching priority for most of the staff, so you can essentially get away with doing absolutely nothing but watching tv all day in sweatpants. The turnover rate while I was there was pretty sporadic. I even saw a patient leave the building (probably because he was bored out of his mind or ran out of cigarettes) and he accidentally relapsed and then just walked back into the facility the next day. I’m very glad he decided to come back but I don’t think he was reported as ever leaving which means they either didn’t know he left or just didn’t care. But that’s what they want I guess. The more you relapse the longer you stay and if your insurance is good and you aren’t a lot of work for them than you’re an ideal candidate for this place. That second star is because It’s very clean and pleasant looking and for the most part most of them do seem to genuinely care to some extent. They’re not monsters. It really is a pleasant and cute looking place when you first walk in, but you can see it’s unfortunately a bit of a facade right now; not unlike the unoriginal hobby lobby artwork and fake plastic plants on the walls. I’m sorry to say but in my opinion ACMH is not currently living up to its full potential. Note: I’m still getting help, just not from them. I’m just upset they wasted my (and their own) time."
"This place did wonders for me and guided me on my journey towards the life I live today. I could not be more grateful for each and every one of the staff there and the wonderful work they did assisting me along the way. I would highly recommend any and everyone to go to this facility and experience the life changing work they did for me as well."
"I unfortunately found my self needing help with my drinking and burn out from work. Things have been rough since the pandemic started and I found, like many others, that my drinking wasn't really social. I've never in my life thought that I would be on my way to treatment, but, I went because I needed it. This place is amazing. Rooms are nice and clean, staff is friendly and actually caring, I didn't feel like a number to them. Many of the people there have ties to either have gone through addiction personally, or have had loved ones that struggled. I feel more like myself now."
"Having just transitioned out of Atlanta Mental Health/Detox Center after a three week stay, I am very impressed. Everything about this place was really positive. Staff and clients are caring and considerate. The facility is beautiful and has many amenities such as big screen TVs, ping pong and pool table in the rec room. The bed/bedroom is comfortable. Three warm meals are served daily. The medical and counseling staff are caring and create an individualized program for each client. There is weightlifting equipment in the spacious outdoor area. In group meetings you will find community and encouragement. The counselor gave me hope when I was at rock bottom. The medical staff got me on better medications. ADMH is a safe place to begin your recovery."
