"I under no circumstances would recommend Jan Sherbak as your minor child’s therapist. I shared important information with her regarding my daughter to enlighten her and in hopes of her being able to better help her mental and emotional state. My daughter was in a very fragile state at the time. During my daughter’s session with Jan S. she proceeded to share with my daughter ALL of the details of our conversation I had with her relating to my daughter’s mental and emotional health! Of course, it caused my daughter to have bitterness and resentment when she knew the things I had shared. A therapist can”t properly treat without knowing details/facts. The 1-2 therapy sessions my daughter had with her were counterproductive, and that’s an understatement! I have a friend that is an actual psychiatrist and she confirmed that a therapist should NEVER divulge information to the minor patient if it could be harmful emotionally or mentally. From then forward I have asked every therapist if they do the same thing that Jan Sherbak does which is tell what the parent has revealed to the therapist in confidence. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM SAID ABSOLUTELY NOT! They said they couldn’t believe that a therapist would actually do that. Luckily, I found therapists that abide by the code of ethics and standards of practice."
