"In early 2021 I saw a group practicing in Cascades park several times when I walked my dog. I thought it would be fun to do some exercise in the park closeby and chatted with instructors who invited me (encouraged) to join. I indicated that I wanted exercise with perhaps some self-defense elements to develop more confidence and focus. It was nice to have a number of classes in the park, we practices sequences of moves, alone or with another person. A couple of times the class was moved to the church in town and I was encouraged to come but didn't feel motivated enough to make a trip given my casual attitude to it. Then on another occasion later, Bo Jackson again invited me to join the class at church mentioning that he will show some interesting technique (without providing details). He sent me a direct text with the address, 2198 N. Meridian Rd., which felt like a nudge. Since he was the main instructor I decided to honor that and came. In the middle of the class Bo showed that "technique." It turned out that he pretty much was strangling Dean Hilton with the scarf. I was stunned. Dean was red, struggling to breathe, making weird sounds. I have never seen nor do I want to see anything like this again. Students should have been advised of what the technique/demonstration would be (this could not have been done in the park). What made it even more creepy is that right then Russel Wilder got a camera and started taking pictures of students watching this "demonstration", the whole thing. There were no pictures were taken of me (or anyone) during practice in all other classes I attended in the park, nor did they announce that photos will be taken. It was clear to me that this is not a good match for me to say the least. As to not waste my and their time given that I knew I will not be participating any longer, I left before the end of the class and informed Bo afterwards that I will not be attending again. I indicated to him also that I have not consented to my pictures being taken in general during classes. Bo gave me a generic answer that my picture will not be used "for promotional" purposes. Comment on Response by the Owner: I submitted liability waiver online however as I recall I redacted out photo consent (I have typically opted our of photos. I didn't indicate it though, so it might have been overlooked). I did in the past take a handful of classes from a couple other martial arts teachers in town which were all respectful, caring and nice environments. So it was expected and consistent that I would be interested to practice in the park close to my house. At that time I was subjected to fraud when behind my back fraudulent proceedings were brought forth aiming to falsely frame me to present danger to myself or others. If this deceptive photo was shared with anyone or if anyone could have had (or gained) access to it it could have been used in these proceedings. It is unfortunate that I have to write it here is to communicate facts since in violation of my rights I have been excluded from direct participation."
"Had an awesome experience with Arsenal's self defense awareness training. I wish these concepts had been taught in school when I was a kid! Very informative, helpful information to help us become more aware of our surroundings and to understand the physiological response that occurs when we're under pressure is pretty amazing. Simple things that we use everyday could become a weapon of opportunity when in harms way. I highly recommend taking this course and signing up to train! To be prepared for something you hope will never happen is better than the alternative."
"I've been training at arsenal marshal art for over a year and have enjoyed every minute of it.the kenpo karate is great for kids as well as adult .the instructors are always on point and ready to answer any questions. I highly recommend arsenal marshal art for all your self defense needs."
"I have talked to Mr. Sheridan on several occasions by phone and he talked as if he would be a could instructor. I checked their schedule for their classes showed up for the class he teaches but he was not thfor. Some lady finally asked me after several minutes of waiting if she could help me. I asked if Mr. Sheridan was in. She said no so i asked if she what time he would be in. She stated she don't know she would have to ask. She asked another person and all that person could do was shrug his shoulders. After several minutes of chit chating with some else she finally returned and said we don't know if or when he would be in. Now grant it both people were instructors. So I watched a few minutes of the classes that was supposedly being taught. One instructer had 5 or 6 students and was just talking to them. Never seen anything being taught. Their was no order of any kind. It reminded me of a daycare for parents and kids. How can you have respect for some one when they can't even show up on time to teach their own class. Not to mention it is a crying shame when you have the instructors to sign in and out like a school office or doctors office. I left and went to logans and got better service and information. So my recomendation is don't waste your time or money at arsenal. Got to Logan's. I wouldn't give arsenal a 1 star I would give them a negative 10 star."
"Their Combat Hapkido class is what you want to take if you want to truly know how to defend yourself. It teaches specific and realistic scenarios on how to defend yourself if attacked. The instructors of all the classes are trained and have experience in real-life self defense situations. The school hosts many classes including: Judo, Combat hapkido, kenpo karate, and a women's assault prevention course. all of which are highly recommended as all of the instructors are highly skilled and personable."
