"We've been with Jamie George long before The George Center was ever established. Each year, Jamie and her music therapists continue to service our son and his needs in new and inventive ways. Not only do they provide the best music therapy services in town, they also teach clients, learning disabled or not, how to play a number of different instruments. Our son learned how to play and read music for the piano, guitar, violin, djembe drums and ukulele. Over the years, our son has seen Jamie, Andrew, Lana and Andrea for individual music therapy. He's had the opportunity to work with each of the music therapists and interns in several of their amazing group programs such as Any Dream Will Do (performing arts), Rock Band (with Hannah & Jordyn), Bucket Drumming and Camp CreARTive. If our son could go there every day, he absolutely would! Most insurance companies don't cover the cost of music therapy, though it's been the most beneficial thing we've ever done with our son. Christy has been a dream in helping us apply for funding and trying to bill our insurance companies. Music is such a strong force in each of us. A song can bring anyone back to a special moment in time. Our son, like so many others, responds to music like nothing else. Jamie and her therapists weave social interaction, language and occupational skills into each session. Learning to play music creates so many vital connections in the brain! Our son uses far more language during music therapy than he ever does in traditional speech therapy. I can't say enough good things about this organization.
