"I have two students attending this school. My first is a senior and we had no issues throughout his tenure. However, my freshman is having nothing but problems with the teachers here. I can only hold the leadership responsible. Recently, a teacher (Jennifer Carpenter) tried to deny my child the right to go to the bathroom. Since, my child could no longer hold his urine, he informed the teacher he was going to the restroom. As a result, he was given a lunch detention. As a parent, I did not allow him to be detained and segregated from the rest of the students. Now he has been suspended for two days. How does this benefit the student? It seems as if this is another case of abusing power. No person or government entity should try to deny a basic human body function. These are people, not property. It is sad this is the way they treat students (or certain students). It seems they just want students to blindly follow rules just because they say so. The faculty is going from educators to corrections officers. They even went as far to say it was a safety concern (in writing). However, when the local terrorist were allegedly plotting to kill people at the school, limited communication was witnessed. But instead, propaganda was spewed over the intercoms as too how great the day was and how well the football team did. This is very reminiscent of North Korea or a concentration camp."
"Worst school I ever been to, the classes I've had so far were ok but there's this weird teacher who has rats in her classroom. It's so weird that the principal hasn't called the exterminator. I was called to the principals office and when I got in there I seen condoms. She didn't even try to hide them. Later throughout the school year the lunch started getting worst. We had rice and beans and my beans were moving. I still don't why the janitor wears bikinis it makes his butt juicy though. Anyways GOOOOO TIGERS!"
"Oh Etowah, how you are so wonderful and terrible at the same time. I will put it like this, for I have only one year here and already see the issues to Etowah. The discipline is absolute garbage (not to mention the delinquents that are the cause of this issue). The teachers try their best to bargain with the students to behave but in the end the children win because the teachers rarely do any discipline. Why? I am not completely sure but something tells me it is because of this whole oppression movement, which in its self needs to be aborted. That said, the teachers are very nice and can very much get along with the students and help then when asked (of course when the students ask for legit help, not when they make a stupid remark to get attention). There had been some bad staff, hence a robotics teacher but most of them have or will be replaced. The school itself is too big for a high school, but with it being so big also helps students prepare for the huge college campuses (of course if some of these buffoons actually go to college). But the building is very old and is always seen being repaired on. And , sated by numerous comments, the roach infestation. I can not go one day without seeing a abomination of nature on its back in this high school. Despicable. I would call the board of health myself to treat this unacceptable problem if it weren't for having access to communications with the board plus the fear of repercussions on I for shutting down the school to have the infestation terminated. If you are a parent reading this, interested to having your child or potential child attend this high school be warned this:There is a lot of harassment here and comes in all forms. This is not being oversensitive, because that would require a person reporting another for not liking what another's shirt has printed on it. These are some of the worse students I have encountered with, though I also blame the parents themselves and the attitude that is being brainwashed onto this generation. Numerous physical contacts and fights have occurred. Racist (to every race) and hateful remarks (serious remarks, not petty ones that a oversensitive being would cry to being told that their hair is messy).High tensions. Sexual moves on both genders (yes, only two genders. Get educated). Actual sexual contact. And for seeing this my first year at this high school? Unremarkable malarkey this is. That said, the education is pretty well done to those who want to learn and have a successful life. Thus review will be edited each year of attending here an hopefully issues will be solved."
"I am a senior at Etowah and have met the nicest teachers ever here. The major problem about this school though is the cockroaches, broken toilets, and the campus is huge. The ramp they have for wheelchairs is uncovered and is exposed to the elements so if its raining out and your in a wheel chair you have to try to get up that steep ramp just to get to your next class. They need to cover it as they do for all the other walk ways around the school. They need to do something about all the cockroaches they have around the school it is gross and not good for our health. The senior lounge is infested with them, last year and this year there was a cockroach in a girls food. Food she got from the cafeteria, I do not understand why no one has called the board of health on the school yet! Half of the toilets in the girls bathrooms have broken toilet seats causing us to slide when we try to use the bathroom. Also I find it ridiculous that the faculty still pick and chose who they flag on the dress code. I walk around the school and see girls wearing these tiny shorts that expose half of their butt yet they do not get flagged for it, but when they do flag someone they are wearing dress code approved clothing. Also they do not call out the guys who are always sagging their pants! We cant show our shoulders in school so they shouldn't be allowed to show their butts all over the school. The school has some good teachers but a lot of them just hand you a paper and tell you to do it without explaining what you are supposed to do."
"Cafeteria food could be better. I know it's not the lunch ladies' faults. They're all wonderful and I talk to them every day. I know they know how to cook. School just doesn't supply them with good ingredients. Wouldn't call it a cockroach infestation, but I see at least 3 a day. Janitors sort of just kick them under the vending machines... Most teachers are great. Overall three out of five stars. Pretty okay school, just leaves me hungry and a little grossed out most days."
